... dinar, five dinar, five five five dinar!" The sales pitch draws quite a crowd. I walk up a street and hear somebody calling. I turn around and find it's a middle-aged man I met the first time I was in the Medina. "Hey Canadian! How are you? Liking Tunis?" he calls with a big grin. We shake hands. "Have a good day!" he calls as I leave. I wander up rue de la Kasbah and stop to take a photo. "mademoiselle!" a man calls. I turn around. "excuse me, do you speak English?" Inwardly, I roll ...

We awoke on the 5th expecting to see African shores on the horizon but were sadly mistaken. We had arrived in Sicily and were stuck on board in 40C heat for 6 hours before we were on our way again. We arrived ...

Tunis doesn't have that much that is exciting for families of young ones. Perhaps they wanted a harbor so that we didn't have to tender but, really, I would have preferred tendering in a nice harbor with a nice beach. And voila. I ...

We awkwardly exit the café in order to make our next appointment with a rejected offer to pay and as we wind our way back from the Kasbah to our hotel room, we go through some of the less tourist traveled areas. Several of the zones have sidewalks stacked with clothing. Kelsey informs us she finds the best deals on clothing at these venues. Evidently, truckloads of clothing ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Caribbean World Borj Cedria
After 3 hrs of riding around going past our place of residency and swopping buses and coming all the way back again we finely arrived. The complex looked a really nice place, lovely set out around the pool area, clean, no litter and very nice
My family and I stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2005. The hotel had many things too offer, and the swimming pool was very nice, however it was very cold. The food on offer was quite horrible and many flies would surround the food. Most days what you had for dinner would be what you would be on offer for lunch the next day. There are a few other restaurants which you could book and go too, however the booking system for these restaurants was terrible. The beach was of a hoorible standard and was very busy and had a lot of rubbish on it.The animation team do a wonderful job, and this helped to make up for the hotel. In the evenings they put on ok shows, and as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you have to stay there and watch them. The rooms were quite large for a family of four, especially because of the upstairs and downstairs. However, we stayed there 7 days and in those 7 days our beds were never made and to get any towels we had to make a fuss, and some days they would say the maids wil brign them shortly and they never arrived. The drinks that are on offer are very limited and only avaliable till 11pm. Overall this is not a hotel i will returning to in the future.
Me, my wife and twin 6 year old kids spent 8 days at this resort at end of July.
Simple but good
I went to this hotel for 14 days. it's a simple hotel, but not too simple. We had great fun there, the swimmingpool is amazing, the animation team knows their job, the food was good, the room was nice and the staff was friendly. Every evening there was an interactive show for the smaller children and aftre that there was a show for the others ( cabaret, dancing, ...). We saw the lion king, aladdin, grease and many more... all performed by the animation team.
In the day there where games, arobics, dancing lessons,... and once a week there's a mini souk (market) where you can buy souvenirs.
The animators can speak several languages like english, french, german, italian.
I've had a great two weeks and I would go back any time!
The Best hotel in Tunisia
I thought the holiday was one of the best i've ever had. The Staff were really friendly. The food was good. It had a range of different dishes! In the evenings the Animators perfomed a brilliant show! There was always a range of activities to do throughout the day and the beach was very close.
I enjoyed a lot and would recommend it to anyone!
On our arrival at Caribbean World we were welcomed by the Animators with a welcome dance. This made us feel welcome straight away. At the bar later that evening, the staff came over and introduced themselves and soon we were all laughing and joking together. Our rooms were extremely spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. The room was cleaned daily and the maids did a great job with them.
My daughter an I got a spaceous familiy-room on two floors. clean, nice wallpaint, seasight from the balcony, calm. The hotel is kept in caribbean colors, well looked after, with lots of palmtrees, Yasmin, Bananatrees and other flower-plants. The animation-team is very funny, the children love their animateur, the children are on stage every evening and they love it. The beach is tidy every morning. But still there is a lot to do for the management to make the guests happy: the public toilets should get cleand more often. The guests dont want to wait 1 minute for cups at breakfast. There are only 2 different jams, no honey. They should offer more continental dishes, for example spaghetti bolognaise. You can take surfing lessons, trapez-lessons, play tennis, table-tennis, shoot like Winnetou, Billard, Boccia, Latin-dance-lessons, Aerobic, Arabic-lessons, canoe,go for a long walk on the beach, collect shells, camel or horse riding. Unfortunately there are no shops or restaurants outside the hotel, souveniershops within. You can take a taxi to the train station Borj Cedria ,about 1,5 km/2 Dinar, and go to Tunis, Sidi bou said, Hammamet by train. There are regular busses as well .We enjoyed our stay at this hotel even though I got belly-troubles the second week. Take a mosquito spray with you for the evening outside, just in case. You pay about 15 Dinar /3 days for TV. I booked Last minute with Nazar Holiday Düsseldorf, Germany, 1290 Euro, 2 persons/2 weeks/all incl/incl. taxes and securitiy. I would go there again if it cost the same. The critics in the internet are outdated and give no real information. You can have a good time there, but don be too fussy, be friendly to the staff. I wouldnt go there in July and August, it could be crowded and too hot. Go to Switzerland or Austria in summer.
Never go there!
This is the worst place I have ever been to. Had a terrible experience there all at the hotels fault. The place is dirty, the food is uneatible, the staff are extremely rude, the rooms are BAD, and the location is undesirable. I would not advise anyone to go there, I went for a week and hated everyday of it and was then sick for about two weeks after.
my husband and i stayed at caribbean world october 2003 it was the worst experiance ever!!!!! we arrived in the dark after the long trip from the airport when at times we wondered if we would ever reach it!The room needed redecorating but was clean if very basic- a television that didn't work just sat on the floor. we went for breakfast the 1st morning and couldn't get to it for the swarms of flies actually sat on the food!!!!!!!!!!!! the pool was actually one of the best we have seen -wasted in this resort.we walked around and tried to eat in the other restaurant but the flies got there 1st and for those of you who think i must be exaggerating i can promise you i'm not! we paid extra and moved that night it was that or go home it was so bad. we are lucky enough to have been to tunisia before and had wonderful hotels in yasmine this is a place not to be missed but please don't waste your money on this dreadful place!.
Stayed at Caribbean World Sept 2003 after booking it off teletext. We were impressed by all inclusive price and overall description of place. How wrong was it. Food was awful and you had to get to it before the flies, the beach was disgraceful with allsorts of rubbish washed up on it, the drinks were extremely limited to beer, wine and odd local concoction. We had torential rain for five days and hotel flooded with no electricity for hours at a time and people roomless. It was miles from anywhere else so you were stuck on the complex. Would not go again if it was free. The only plus side were the rooms were kept clean and the entertainers really worked to try and keep everyone amused.
