"What are you doing in Greece?" asked my dad, when my parents called me on Christmas Eve. "Your Czech basketball team needs you."
-----In asking me that question, my father - a writer of short fiction, wilderness backpacker, and postal worker - had never been so right.
-----Winter days in my beloved small town of Rymarov, Czech Republic were as precious as gold.

... 12th Century Norman Cathedral; it is also a major mecca for beach lovers. The waters in this area of the Mediterranean – the Tyrrhenian Sea – are relatively clean, turquoise blue and very enticing. ... I guess about 30 got off. The transfer from boat to launch was quite dicey. Whereas Amalfi was reasonably flat, Positano was hilly from the word go. The narrow lanes led upwards ever upward, with vendors selling in every stop they could find. Some of the lanes were covered with trellises with either grape vines or wisteria trailing over them. We went into one of the oldest restaurants in the town with its ...
