Getting away with teenagers
from elias2
This was our second trip back to Bolongo, both times around mid April, the All-Inclusive & Semi Inclusive Plans are worth the extra. Yes, it is Club Everything! We brought our own fins/masks the 2nd time for three reasons:1)The gear available has been used (you can't pick and choose), 2) if you take the gear off premisis you're charged a rental fee & 3) if you don't turn the gear in by the required time you're charged a fee. Easier to buy/bring your own. If snorkling is your ting', Bolongo Bay has great views also recommend NE St Thomas and St Johns. There is a HUGE K Mart store on St Thomas . You can buy whatever you didn't bring or left behind. Bolongo's rooms are always clean, food is great. My husband & I were able to relax at night, knowing the teenagers were safe & secure. With the Inclusive plans they could eat & enjoy the activities @ their pace. All the staff @Bolongo go above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay there-ENJOYABLE! We'll be back.
Bolongo's Best

There were sixteen of us who stayed there last week. A good time was had by all. We never left except to go on the Heavenly Days to St.
John's. It was an excellent and relaxing vacation.
Bolongo Bay not quite what I expected

I read many of the reviews on Bolongo Bay, as well as many other reviews on other hotels before making a decision on where to stay. I chose Bolongo in part due to the location...it seemed to be one of the only hotels on the beach, not on a cliff. It was also slightly cheaper than the others. All the reviews commented on the facilities and rooms needed "updating" but I was prepared for that...as long as they were clean, etc. To make along story short, it is on the beach, but that and a few other things was the only good part about this hotel. Our room was very outdated, with rust on the mirrors, a fridge and stovetop I wouldn't use camping, as well as bugs in the bathroom. The only pool (yes there is only one, despite some of the descriptions) is right next to the restaurant, which makes it very uninviting. On the other side, the food is good at each of the dining facilities..Iggies and the Beach House, and if you do go, we had a blast on the Catamaran Day Sail to St. John (the crew was wonderful)..In general, I was just very dissapointed in the accomodations, considering the money we paid (I have stayed at a very nice all-inclusive before and thought the money was well worth it.) I heard many other people dissatisfied during our stay also....just keep it in mind when choosing your stay. I wish I had known before choosing. We enjoyed ourselves very much on the vacation..just didn't go back to the room much...:) Have fun!
Wonderful and Relaxing

I researched several hotels in St Thomas and found Bolongo Bay offered the best overall value. My friend and I booked the all inclusive plan and were so impressed after 4 days, we extended our 7 day trip to a 10 day one. The staff was unbelievably friendly and accomodating. Nowhere else in the world have I met a group of people so willing to make my stay as enjoyable and easy as possible. The rooms were a little dated, and we did have a problem with our first room, but were immediately moved to another room without question upon request. The food was excellent. The activities offered were of high quality and quite varied. The Heavenly Days trip to St John was quite enjoyable. Even non-hotel guests should take advantage of that trip. During our stay, we visited several other hotels on the island, and found them to be either over-priced, too commercial or in just plain poor condition. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in St Thomas again!
Nice break but

Stayed there for 5 days and practically had the place to ourselves. Place in desperate need of updating and repairs. Furniture missing from room, food adequate. Met some nice people which made it worthwhile. Would not return.

Spent six days at Bolongo with family of four and had a wonderful time. The staff was very good but real laid back, the rooms were worn but clean and the food was very good, except for the Mexican buffet which I would avoid. The health club is across the street and is good enough plus you get the exercise of walking to it. Because it is the windward side, the beach is a little rocky so bring watershoes, the beginning scuba lesson was great although I would pick another dive service for the reef dive. Unless you want to just camp out at the hotel you will need a car because taxi's are very expensive although always available. If you want to be pampered and drooled over this is not the place but if you want to just relax and have very service, good food at a real bargin Bolong is the place.

Just got back from Bolongo Bay, St. Thomas. This resort is right on the beach. The staff is very friendly. The rooms need updating, they are worn out looking. This resort would be good if you were only going to sleep there and explore the island all day. If you plan on staying at the resort and never leaving you might want to stay someplace else. The beach is rocky also. Make sure you also understand what plan you have for this resort. There are 3 plans: EP, semi-inclusive, all-inclusive.

I just returned from a wonderful, relaxing stay at Bolongo Bay. After seeing many of the other resorts on the island (Sapphire, Marriot, Secret Harbour), I was pleased with our choice to stay at Bolongo. Compared to the others, Bolongo is not the most pleasing to the eye, the grounds and rooms could use a little renovating. But, I'd much rather stay at a resort with a friendly staff, clean rooms, and wonderful food and drinks, rather than a resort that is "nice to look at". All and all we had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the all-inclusive plan. Having a casual bar right on the beach like Iggies was such a nice extra. We could go out all day, and always have a place to unwind. was extremely friendly and fun during our stay. We would not have had such a pleasant vacation if it weren't for Bolongo.
Winter in Bolongo Bay
from hunpie2177
Stayed at Bolongo Bay in February. The staff was great - very accommodating. However, the rooms are in need of updating - clean but not modern. There are no elevator so there is lots of walking up and down stairs. The gym is across the highway - not really convenient as you have to cross a busy road. The food was OK - only ate there a few times. We rented a car and toured the island. All in all, it was a nice winter break from the cold, snowy winter of NY.

My wife and I stayed at Bolongo Bay Beach in August. After reading and re-reading all the comments about the different resorts we picked Bolongo. I have to say we are not disappointed! Although the rooms are 80's style and could use a little renovation they are by no means dirty or tired. You will not find a better deal! The food was very good. As you will read the staff here are the best. The food was great(we decided not to go all-inclusive, but semi-inclusive and neveer spent half what we did at other resorts in St.Thomas. But the best part at Bolongo is the views. If your having a hard time deciding where to stay, play it safe and go here.
