Tourist-ing Out in Tenerife

A travel blog entry by mike_erin

... Gran Canaria for our last week here before we are off to London! It's sure been nice to be warm this last week, especially when I hear for family and friends that it's been hovering around -30 at home. Sorry guys ;). Adios! M&E *Note (warning, it's gross): Mike doesn't do cockroaches. You find a spider anywhere and he'll take care of it, but he will have nothing to do with a cockroach attack. This is understandable as this particular fellow was about 2 inches long and ...

Hop On Hop Off Santa Cruz

Our next shore stop was Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands.

This is a major big city. While the island of Lanzarote is around 140,000, Santa Cruz on the island of Tenerife is over 200,000 people alone. Again, the modern city structures are unbelievable since all of the products to build had to be shipped in. This is a major port for these islands with many container ships sitting off shore waiting to be unloaded. We watched ...

La Guancha - Los Gigantes - Otley

It is a luxury hotel/spa with pink houses, flats scatter up the hillside that leads onto the 18 hole golf course. If only it had been hire might have helped! Still have time to spare so we call in at Los Abrigos to have the first of our rolls. There's a small evening market but whilst sunny ...

El Teide

... of Teide before we had taken a photo! Not put off we drive on up and through the clouds to find clear blue sky by the time we reach the National Park. The lava flows make for a barren landscape but areas of sediment and extinct craters make for a dramatic lunar like landscape. The snow on the mountains and at the side of the road add to the impact. We drive onto the cable car which we take to the highest point (xxxx ft) just a 150m below ...

La Laguna, Santa Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla

A travel blog entry by valfinucane

... in a locals bar then take the tram down to Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz has a different feel in the sunshine and it's a pleasant walk along the by the docks before taking the return tram back up to La Laguna. We drive back yet again along the same stretch of road, the fourth time! Decide to stop at San Juan de la Rambla which proves to be a little gem in comparison with La Guancha. Two good bars where it is fun to watch the football amongst the locals. Back home for DVD and ...
