We strolled down to the old harbour by which time it really started teeming again so we dived into a bar at the front for the regulation beer. The younger men just ask me "where are you from?" When I say Australia, there is always a laugh and a look of relief...lets face it, Australian's are a friendly bunch! ... Very happy indeed to be here.

There are significant Roman ruins here dating from about 100AD. The geographcal landscape is very unusual for a beach town which is sandwiched between very rocky hills. A creek fed by freshwater springs runs out to the beach. The really unusual thing is that to get to the beach you have to go through the ruins and pay 5 lire each time. Quite strange. I gather you ...
