Barbados was great (we stayed in Holetown) – fabulous weather, a fully equipped apartment near the shops, bars and restaurants, in a great location with beach frontage.

We ate well, slept a lot, lay on the white sand beach, swam and snorkelled and went to the Cropover festival. We watched the amazing procession of floats, equipped with massive speakers, churning out reggae, as young (and not so ...
Holetown, Saint James, Barbados thedunckleys... in front of them, others staff members trying to use their benefits but falling short. The customer service of the AA representatives was horrendous enough to be worthy of its own blog, but it's not one I feel like writing right now. We were all trying different options. We thought about trying from different airlines - everything is full. Different islands, everything is full. We even thought ...
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeSo, yes, we're in Rockley as I'm typing this entry, but we went to Speightstown today, so I thought I'd record that with the map dot. But i get ahead of myself.

Today began with diving. Well, for me it began with dreams that I was waking up late for diving. The Dive Shop (which is actually the name of the joint with which we dived. Dove. Whatever.) sent a van to pick us up on the stoop of our apartment at 8:45a, for a two tank dive beginning ...
Speightstown, Barbados dyer0930... The island is so beautiful with all of its tropical exotic trees and colours. One could stay here forever.

We were then driven through Holetown, where the island's first settlers landed in 1627. Upon our return, we passed in front of numerous luxury hotels and houses.

The island is purely marvelous. Our short stay here provided us with lots of memories that we will cherish forever.

Thankful for scenic drives.

Mo
Barbados, Barbados momentsintime... Hourrah! Mi and I decided to sit way at the back of the boat for more excitement. Well, we sure were not disappointed. The ride was extremely a high speed one. With excitement, I kept yelling and yelling as water kept splashing on my face and the boat jumping the high waves. By the time we arrived at Turtle Bay, well, Mi and I were soaked. Regardless, we had our bathing suits on. Ha Ha! It sure was a fun ride ...
Barbados, Barbados momentsintime... told us how to get a cab to the airport. The cab driver took us the scenic route, and talked about the island. It reminds me of Puerto Rico or Jamaica--it is poor and not very clean in the inside of the island, while the beaches and hotels/resorts are luxurious. The beaches are all public access--they do not have any private beaches. According to the other guests, we didn ...
Bridgetown, Barbados cynjohnFirst off, we have to send a special Happy Birthday shout-out to our girl, Nikki. Hope you're having a fabulous day. Going to bed early (10 p.m.) last night kind of gets you in the mood to get up a little early. And that's exactly what we did this morning. Six o'clock, to be exact. That was the perfect hour to sit on the patio and enjoy the morning ocean breeze, and to try out the free wireless Internet connection that Graham mentioned ...
Speightstown, Barbados globetrotters... the surrounding area's rugged, natural-looking, tropical coastline. i went surfing one more time after that, just this past sunday. instead of batsheba elise and i went to a point just south of bridgetown, which was closer and easier to get to. the waves were very small for most of the day, although there was a time mid-day where i got some good practice in. overall, i've decided that surfing isn't hard to pick up if you can swim, snowboard, and aren't afraid of the ocean. the ...
Bridgetown, Barbados bdaly334... had our tickets for Day 1 of the test at the Harbour Lights and Ship Inn. Unfortunately this was 2 different places, a $30 cab ride apart. We went to Harbour Lights (admission $30- Barbados is damn expensive) and the Ship Inn but could not't find him. This was a problem as the game was sold out and we had no tickets. Doh mon. We got up at 6.30 am to make the 45 minute journey to the ground in the hopes of meeting a nice little scalper who wouldn ...
