Nice location, beautiful beach
We just returned from Cancun on Nov 30. We stayed at the Pyramids. The
beach was beautiful and huge. The staff were very helpful. In my
opinion, they make the best strawberry margaritas in town. The
breakfast buffet was very good, but the dinner buffet was so so. Our
room was very nice and clean. My only complaints were all of the
construction and the dinner buffet. I would have liked to have seen
fresh fruits, salads, etc.
My family of three took a taxi to Ishcaret instead of the usual bus trip. We were able to work out a deal with the taxi driver. He took us wherever we wanted to go for $90. We ended up saving $100 for the three of us on entrance and transportation, and we were able to go and leave when we wanted to.
I would definitely return to the Pyramids. You can't beat the price and the location. We will just eat dinner out of the hotel next time.
Barely a 3 star & definately NOT geared towards families. Limited ceramics for kids, one pool game in 7 days! Two small pools, one for adults, one for children (when adults aren't playing volleyball). So there was actually many times when our daughters could not swim at all! Margaritas were HORRIBLE, when you finally got one, bartenders are RUDE and make nasty tasting drinks, and have only one person serving the whole area so it takes a long time to get a drink. Also NO POOL SIDE OR BEACH COCKTAIL SERVICE! Towel service has several rules & if some one else accidentally picks up your towel, YOU PAY $$. Food was marginal at best, and mostly unacceptable to children. Limited hours for meals. Only one other restaurant on premise and they fail to tell you they have a "NO KID" policy until you show up for dinner, dress code, and VERY difficult to get more than two reservations per week. (They try very hard to keep you in the "bare minimum Buffet". Stick to the rolls & coffee for the week! No room service and cannot take even a cup of coffee to your room! Yes! The hostess watches you as you leave & was very rude. Time share saleswomen are VERY rude. Management is unresponsive. Construction in front of hotel is noisy and ugly. Can use hotel iron for one hour only, limited english channels on TV, no soda or snack machines forces you to use "Deli" for outrages prices and NO FRESH FOODS OR SANDWICHES! No stores or boutiques on premises. . STAY AWAY!
Dont come here
We've just arrived back from a 2 week honeymoon at this hotel. Be warned there's a bit of building work going on there, and once they started work at 3am in the morning YES 3am, don't worry it stopped after an hour of complaining!!!.Our ratings:-BAR STAFF, 5/10 There's about 6 bar staff in total I would say that only 2 new how to serve drinks, I heard many guests complaining that they were getting served the wrong drinks etc.LOCATION, 10/10 Great location the Hotel situated next to a wonderful clean beach, there's a great Shopping Mall across the road (La Isla) and its not to far from any of the attraction.HOTEL, 6/10 There was a musty sweaty smell all over the hotel corridors, when we asked the tour rep about this she said it's the climate and all hotels had the same odder here in cancun. After a few days the smell went (or did we get used of it?)8 out of 10 rooms have no balcony, I have been on 15 vacations in the last 8 years and this is the first I have had with no balcony, not all rooms have fridges and my sea view was great only when I pushed my head against the window that would only open 6 inches for security reasons. There is a great little 24 hour kiosk selling bottled drinks, cans of beer, crisps, ice snacks etc (how nice of them, remembering we paid for an all inclusive package I thought this meant we would receive everything All Inclusive. You are not to take anything to you room that wasn't paid for.FOOD, 5/10 At first we thought that all of the bad complaints regarding the food at this hotel were crazy, but after a few days you get very bored with the near to exact same small selection on offer, breakfast was one of the worst meals that sticks in my mind with things like broad beans and parmesan cheese on offer, not and English breakfast in sight.RECEPTION STAFF, 0/10 The most unhelpful hopeless bunch I have ever encountered.EVENING ENTERTAINMENT, 0/10 There isn't any evening entertainment; they can't wait to see you go out at night so you're not drinking all of the booze you paid for in your all inclusive package.Reading all of this will put anyone off staying at this hotel but it's only our opinion and as I see on this website opinions dramatically varies. If you want to visit this hotel and make your own mind up that's your option but there's better hotels in this region with much more to offer. If you're a nasty person I would suggest you go and book this hotel, if you are a nice person look elsewhere.
Better than we expected
very clean-room (standard) was excellent, great location, food was average but it is an all inclusive, place was quiet, everyone was helpful, bought a calling card to call usa and used it in the lobby (10 minutes for $10), they give you some free thing depending on how long you stay (movie tickets, trip, meal out), beach is the thing-very close and the best-we would definitely come back here
Great Place to stay in Cancun
The Park Royal was outstanding. The all inclusive resort is one of the nicest in Cancun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of activities for kids. Great location as well... Enjoy!
A great vacation experience.
We had the best vacation of our lives here. You are surrounded by wonderful employees eager to help make your stay enjoyable. The food, service, room cleanliness, etc. are superb as well. Thanks for a most memorable 10 days of paradise. The Cole Family
Not bad for a 3-star Hotel
The hotel has a good location... right across from the new outdoor mall, La Isla. And one bus stop away from Kukulcan and Flamingo shopping. The rooms are clean and roomy. I asked for hair dryer and got it in 5 minutes. Food could be better and it was the same every day. The only thing I like in the buffet restaurant is the fruits. And the only La Carte restaurant takes reservation between 3-5 pm. Who is going to be there at that time? Unless you don't plan to go to any tours. Also the dinner selection there is very limited, just a few choices pizzas, pastas and meat entries. Overall the hotel is not bad for the price we paid.
Average place. Big rooms, pretty mediocre food. good staff. great location. cheap bar booze. Wouls stay here again only if we got a great rate. I would try and opt out of the all inclusive. Be carefull of the time share presentation pitch. The food is always the same and recycled through your whole visit.....Yikes! Good staff, helpful and accomodating! Excellent location right in the middle of the big strip. Go to La Perrilla in downtown Cancun for dinner.......excellent and cheap with atmosphere and music!!
It was paradise!
My family and I took a trip to Cancun and stayed at the Park Royal Pyramids the week of New Years (12-30-02/1-2-03). We had a WONDERFUL time staying there-the people were very friendly, the service was great, and the weather there is gorgeous! Even though most reviews that are placed on here are only bad, I wanted to make sure that a good review was put in here because we couldn't have picked a better hotel! And the rates were REALLY great. Definitely recommend staying there!
We had a very bad experience at this hotel.
My wife lost her purse .................
We did not have any support by hotel personnel.
We will hardly inform traveller to check and keep their belonging.

... any public access to the beach. After the strip of hotels ended however we entered an area of protected vegetation, and after another 20mins of driving we found a gap in the mangroves to the beach and sat watching the sea as we chomped on our burritos. Unfortunately the beach was littered with plastic, and with the sun going down and the remoteness of the location we decided to head off. On the way back we discovered the public beach, which was back the ...
... resort's Doctor. Nice lady. She couldn't do more than look in my ears and confirm that there was indeed a blockage and inflammation in there. Great. So, she called the hospital and arranged for us to see the doctor that afternoon. We decided to make the best of it and wait it out by hanging by the beach and pools. No swimming for me, of course! We just lazed about at the private pool and let them wait on us ...
... chairs, a large rustic "farm table" for dining and simple wooden stools. - perfect for a family with a very small, very messy kid. One of the best features of the villa were the huge double doors that opened up the living room to a manicured jungle-scape painstakingly maintained each year by a well meaning, hard working and possibly a bit feeble minded, Miguel.
... trees. The turquoise water was cool and clear apart from a little seaweed, and wonderfully refreshing, but by the time I'd walked back to reception I was sweating again.
Walked to the Oxxo (Mexico equivalent of 7/11) and bought some orange juice and lemon soda to mix with my tequila, then went down to The Grill - the hotel restaurant next to the pool. Grabbed a table overlooking the water where some of the guests were playing water polo and ordered a coconut Margarita ...
... a happy family. We discussed some of the cited scriptures with him, he told us more about his life and why this interested him in particular having been divorced and not having a close relationship with his grown up children. We sat there for quite some time. To one side of us was a church which was packed. Like most churches here it didn't have solid walls so we could here all the chanting and singing of Sunday Mass. Out of the corner of my eye I saw ...
