Historical Traveler Reviews Oasis Sens Cancun

Two Thumbs Up For Oasis Playa!!!!!

      from

We just got back yesterday from our fantastic trip to Cancun. We stayed at the Oasis Playa and were extremely pleased. After reading a few negative reviews before arriving, we were kind of worried. However, all worries quickly disappeared once we got there. Immediately after check-in, our bags were delivered to our room by the bell boys. The room was very spacious and clean. As far as the food goes, we were impressed. The buffet has a great variety of food, but if you eat there for every meal, it will get a little old eventhough they change it up a little every day. The Mexican restaurant was decent but we are used to Tex-Mex so we found it a little bland. We never went to the other restaurant but heard it was good. There is also hamburgers, hotdogs, and nachos on the beach during the day. The service at every restaurant in the hotel was exceptionally good. There is no air conditioning in the lobby or in the restaurant so it gets kinda hot. Don't worry, the air conditioner in our room worked very well and we had to keep it on low most of the time so we wouldn't freeze.

The hotel is in the perfect location if you really want to relax on the trip. There were people of all ages and many families with children. They have a few shows by the pool at night, but for the most part things die down at the hotel pretty early. If you really want to party til late in the night, you'll have to leave the hotel and hit the clubs. The hotel is kinda far away so you'll have to take at least a 10-15 minute bus ride to get places. Our absolute favorite thing about the hotel was the pool. It is beautiful and spacious with an awesome swim-up bar. While you are in the pool you see an awesome view of the Sea. The beach near the resort is very clean and not very crowded at all. The mixed drinks are very good, however they are very weak. But they are free so just drink up.

We had a couple of hours to kill between check-out time and our ride to the airport. We left our luggage with the bell boys while we continued our vacation for a couple more hours. If you have to check-out of your room before you intend to leave, the hotel offers you a complimentary room for 30 minutes to shower or change clothes after swimming. We were very relieved by these accomodations because we were worried about having to just sit in the lobby with our luggage for 3 hours before leaving for the airport.

We were very satisfied with our stay. We are definitely coming back again and we will be staying at the Oasis Playa. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice and affordable trip to Cancun.

      Great Holiday!!!!

      from

My husband & I have just returned from a fantastic honeymoon at the Oasis Playa, I can't believe the bad reviews I have read are written about the same hotel we stayed in. Where to start? The staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive, Concie in the piano bar deserves a special mention she was fantastic. Our room was spacious and was cleaned (with fresh bedding & towels provided) daily. The entertainment was brilliant with something going on at all times, but the entertainment staff were not pushie if you didn't want to take part they left you to watch. The evening shows were well worth watching and well organised. The restaurants were superb with a good choice for anyone (my husband is a very picky eater but he was quite satisfied with the selection) you could have virtually anything you wanted and there was different things everyday. The security was good and we had no qualms about leaving belongings while we went to have a swim or go to a restaurant.

I would recomend anyone to go there and can't wait to go back. I'm saving already.

      Holiday from hell

      from

we returned from oasis playa on 24th july and were we pleased to leave .we had to move rooms as the air conditioning in our superior room packed up . in our second room we had no hot water ants nests room smelt all damp net curtain all ripped and our splash pool had cigarette buts and hair in it .after complaining we didnt have the problem dealt with which we were most upset about. after saving over a year for my holiday i wish we had never gone it was worst than a holiday from hell . the toilet also had a constant dripping noise which again was left . mexico is a fantastic place shame oasis playa is there . if you are going good luck one things for sure if you do complain the problem wont be dealt with happy holidays and this should not be a 5 star hotel im glad im back in taunton xx

A Five Star Top Class Hotel

      from

I returned from my holiday with my only yesterday morning with my friend and after experiencing one of the most fantastic holidays was already set to book a return trip later this year. I came on the net to book direct and came accross this site. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Surely the bad comments are made up, or on a different hotel!! As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly helpful staff who took care of our luggage. We checked in and went up to our Sea View Room. It was georgeous, specious and clean!!Our cases were brought up to our room instantly.

After taking in the view we unpacked and got changed. We looked around the glorious hotel and then went for something to eat. I was prepared for a buffet style but what was on offer was amazing!! Everything from Salad to a selection of hot and cold meats, Pasta, Rice Tacos. All sweets.

There are theme nights almost every other night 2 a la cart restaurants in addition to the buffet. This was consistent throughout our stay and the service never faltered with the waiters taking care of you during your meal.

As for the entertainment staff..... Well it was spot on!!! They enternained us from Moring until Morning! And Made you feel part of One big Team. Comment from a previous review:- I personally thought Aldo was the funniest guy and a top dancer who could drink his beer the quickestin the competitions!! Jay Jay was a laugh and got involved with the Beach Volley ball and Water Aerobics, Angel was funny and was always a crowd pleaser and then Paco, who kept me entertained for two weeks, with his humour, dance routines, water volley ball and all round charm, They were all great! I've never had so much fun. Nightly there were trips to clubs and we went to Coco Bongos, so for $20 you got VIP entrance, Free T-shirt and ALL YOU COULD DRINK!!

It was truely an amazing experience and i've got to go back! I would recommend this hotel to anyone

And i wont mention who: but there was one Very Recognised Famous Person who stayed at the same time we were there who enjoyed it, so it must have good reports!!! If i say who it is, i bet you you'll all want to go just so you can say you've stayed in the same room!!!

A FIVE STAR PLUS RESORT!!! LOVED IT!!!

Not the best Holiday I've had!

      from

Myself and my fiance saved for some time to go to Cancun, expected a really nice 5 star hotel, we were sadly mistaken. The rooms were clean, but the air conditioning leaked all over the floor (Maintenance staff would not fix the problem), got stuck in the lift, (which never worked) for over 40 mins without an aknowledgment let alone an apology.

No air conditioning in any of the restuarants, resulting in all the food covered in flys.

The best thing aout the holiday was the beach, which was clean, and had beautiful white sand, although there were about 4 Umbrellas, for the whole beach, which means you must get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a space. Overall I would say that this is a below average 3 star hotel, they charge the earth for a service that is basically rude, and inhospitable.

If you have booked a holiday here, cancel it and go somewhere else.

      Great entertainment!

      from

Hey! I just got back from Cancun, and I stayed at the Oasis Playa. I really enjoyed it. We had the all-inclusive plan, so all of our meals and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) were paid for. There were 4 restaurants at the hotel, and they also had a little poolside store with American snacks. They have a buffet, an italian place, a mediterranean place, and a hotdog/hamburger/nacho place down on the beach. And if you woke up in the middle of the night with the munchies they have a place outside, downstairs where they can make you a sandwich. The entertainment staff was GREAT! My favorite entertainer was Angel, and then Paco. They do everything. They have volleyball, water aerobics, and latin dance lessons in the morning. Every night they have a show that most of the people come down to see. The rooms were decent, pretty spacious and if something happens to it, they send somebody right up to fix it. There is an inside salon that gives hair cuts, massages, manicures, and braids hair, etc. The hair salon isn't expensive, and the lady that works in it is as sweet as can be. I hope you choose Oasis Playa to stay at!

      Hotel Horrible

      from

The Hotel itself is very nice and clean but the rooms are a little run-down though they are spacious. We had a beautiful view of a tennis court and it looked like a construction site from our rooms window with no balcony (who needs the ocean view when you have that). Also, we didnt have any hot water for two nights. My friends and I had a very hotel and the beach was spectacular. We also enjoyed the pool until the day were were leaving when they decided to empty their stagnant water from the bar firehose into the pool. The pool water turned brown and the poor people were swimming in the toxic waste. It was absolutely disgusting. The staff didnt even tell them to get out. Actually, there were many english speaking tourists but the staff could barely speak english at all so remember that high school Spanish and learn your Pesos. Anyway, besides the hotel, we had a great time and met lots of interesting people. Cancun is a real party place and very beautiful. Have fun!

      Excellent Hotel In Fantastic Location

      from

I travelled there with my husband and 2 children aged 7 and 9. The hotel is situated on the most fantastic beach. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The food was excellent in all restaurants and snack bars. The entertainment was good although mostly suitable for adults. The theme nights were very enjoyable. We even had a party on the beach! We found the service very good in all areas of the hotel from maid service to the a la carte restaurants. We had a fantastic time and we cried when we had to come home.

      Great Holiday

      from

This resort offered all the amenities of an upper class resort.

The premises were excellent and the food was great.

It is somewhat recluded from the city of Cancun but ideal for the persons who want a peaceful holiday in a superb environment.

We had a very pleasant week there and would go back anytime.

      Incredible

      from

I had the most amazing time when i stayed at the oasis playa in cancun. I met tons of new people and the night life was indescribable but i also had plenty of time to relax and enjoy a day by the beach. The service there was pretty good but the staff was not too accomodating. The food was very good and did not lack variety. IIn general I had the most incredible trip and would not think twice about whether or not to stay at the oasis playa again.

      Week 22: Playa del Carmen,Cozumel & Cancún

... for dinner and a drink.

Cozumel is one of the world's busiest cruise boat stops, so it was very touristy, but it is also known for having beautiful calm clear waters that are perfect for diving and snorkelling. Here we headed to one of the popular beaches on the island, Playa Palancar, (unfortunately all a cab ride away from the centre) with Kaz and Matt for a swim and relax. We were again hampered by rain but that didn't bother us in the warm water. When we got back ...

Enrico- was great to room with you. I forgive you for the snoring.
Carlos/Ignacio/Inaki- I'll never know what your true name was, but you were a great roommate!
Carolyn- you arrived and it was like you'd been there the whole time!
Paolo- I admired your beard so much that I grew one myself. It will never match your magnificence.
      John- thanks so much ...

... Rob nearly lost his hand down this one’s throat.

After fishing we headed round to Ando and Liz’s all inclusive resort and hung out with them. This was set to be our last time with friends before jetting off once again to Mexico City.

... has a flight to LA tomorrow from Cancun airport. I get to stay the weekend here and fly Monday to Cuba.Saturday 15th. Wayne's taxi arrives at 0730 and he is off to the bus station. I have a dry chesty cough and it is bacterial so start a course of doxycyline which we have for malaria prevention hoping to knock this over before Cuba. Being up early I am able to make toast and coffee and then spend the day at the beach a 5 minute walk ...

... a problem if I get lost. Mike helps by giving me detailed instructions about which bus to get where, and landmarks to look out for. I leave at 12 noon and intend to leave La Isla by 3pm before rush hour starts. I only have to wait outside our apartment for about two minutes before a combi arrives. I know to get off after the fly over where there are always buses waiting (and iguanas by the pavement!). I jump on the waiting bus which takes me all the way ...
