Thunder storms are forecast for tonight. I think I heard a bang or two around 9:30 pm but all is quiet now. Tuesday is a 7 am takeoff so I will cut this short as we did not get parked until 8 pm and unloaded after that.

... headed to our next destination. We followed the forest road back to NC-181, turning left and then an immediate right onto Forest Road 982. For the Independence Day Weekend, we headed out to the Wilson Creek area again for some more waterfall fun. Friday, we spent the day in Raleigh and went to Sandy’s parents for a cookout. We were meeting Josh and Marissa and the dogs, who had camped there the night before. They were arriving ...

After much trial and error and a few slips, we finally made it back to the trail, which seemed so much easier hiking back. We stopped a few times to go down to the creek and get some shots of some cascades and small falls along Upper Creek and then made it back to the car. We were so tired from ...

... great backpacking camping spots. As we approached the waterfall, the main trail split to the right and we took a left on a spur trail that leads to the falls. First we went down a steep section to the base, assisted down the final part by a rope. There were a lot of people here swimming in the water and hanging out on the rocks. Sandy and I ate lunch and then I waded into the pool to get some pictures. Not surprisingly, ...
