... managed to find quite a few. None were very close to shore, unfortunately.

Our first real stop was at Point Lobos State Park. We walked on multiple trails and found 11 otters. We spent most of the morning here and had a picnic lunch. Well worth the visit.

... had a ball for an hour. Really enjoyed the conversation. (Liz really getting a bit stale after 9 weeks!!!) Before dinner we had a little walk around the town which was quite delightful. A really picturesque little town which has changed little. As for our digs. We are in the Harmony bedroom in the Olallieberry Inn, a building dating back to 1873 which has a redwood tree in the front garden which was planted in 1885. What a monster. The house is charming. ... to enjoy a BBQ grass-fed beef sandwich and grass-fed hamburger. Delicious! Driving a little farther north brought us to the elephant seal breeding area. These things are huge, from 700 lb females to 2500 lb males. The males were mating and playing dominance games with other males.
