    We decided to visit the famous Keukenhoff Gardens today, instead of later in our stay, in order to take advantage of the last sunshine we're likely to see in Amsterdam for awhile. I was able to book an afternoon tour through a local tour office on-line last night, so we left our apartment around 11:00, walked to Dam Square (Amsterdam's version of Times Square), and then north on the Damrak to reach the tour office not far south of the central train ...

    Found a lovely local cafe to enjoy some breakfast, and we set off on the train to the city. I had not done any research on public transport passes so we bought a day return ticket for around 11 Euros.
