    There are some very strong stereotypes out there about Amsterdam and they are not wrong. You know how you have a picture of Amsterdam in your head right now – freeze it – that’s what it is like!     ... feature of the Rijks Museum was the placemat sized posters that they had as you entered each of the display areas for their more famous pieces. These did a wonderful job of explaining the painting and also helped to provide things that you should look for (for example the shadowing that Rembrant famously used in this painting).
