Towards the end you see her diaries and journals displayed under glass and you learn the story about how Otto found them and eventually got them published. There is information on them being discovered and being sent to concentration camps. This comes at the end of the domestic hiding part, so is quite moving.

While it was an emotional experience and perhaps somewhat depressing, I'm glad we went as it is ...

The bike lane is full of cycles, scooters and motorbikes. I honestly think more than half the city gets around by bike and not by car which is really quite amazing. We had dinner with our new friends, Ruth and Jimbo Smith from North Carolina. We had dinner in the Polo Grill and it was fantastic. You can see Melissa with her veal chop the size of a steak. (See photo). And, we topped it off with desert for all. (See Melissa and Ruth in photo inspecting the multi faceted desert.)

... We saw bikes with child seats in behind the driver and even smaller child seats fixed between the driver and the handle bars. It gives a new perspective to the family transportation issue. And like I said: helmets? NO. And drivers? People wearing everything from ragged jeans to business suits and ties, sneakers to high heels.

By this afternoon we had had enough. We returned to our room for a nap. This has little to do with Amsterdam and much to do with ...
