... the floor in front of the band, and two dangerous looking men placed hurdles, bottles and short wooden sticks on these boards. The music got louder and louder and more thumpy, twumpy when this young, skinny, shirtless black guy bounded onto the boards and bounced around, all arm waving and "hey, Hiy, Ho"ing with a huge grin.
However, I could see very little of this as the band were between me and him, which I believe to have been a good thing. All ...
... in different spot, hopefully for a calm night with a much heavier boat! Sail back will be interesting as no wind forecast, but good news as seas supposed to be flat - may be time for the newly sown A symmetric sail to get its airing. Up early to see sunrise and away we go - hope to be in Deshaies for supper. Fab sail and we saw Dolphins! On return we arrived to see the locals having a jet ski race-Eric heard to say "where's my ...

Today we had an amazing day. Not that the last few days have not been just terrific. Antigua continues to be a mind blowing viewing opportunity from every angle. The water is warm and clear and as you can see from the pictures freaking gorgeous.
We left at 9:00am and met a man named Alex who is a pastor of a small church on the island. He took up to a multitude ...
... upper 80’s and blue skies holding up both white and dark rain clouds. A warm gentle breeze was coming from the seas thru the cruise ships and into town. We had been in St. John’s before so we were ready for the rustic realism of the city. Narrow uneven sidewalks that were broken up with broken grates, deep gutters that handle the runoff of heavy tropical storms and other hazards ensure that as much attention was paid to the walkway as to the sights, sounds, and smells ...
... St. John's was relatively short, and again when we arrived, a taxi driver was waiting to take us to the vacation rental, A La Mer. We didn't need to give our driver directions, because apparently he was our private driver for the week while we'd be staying on the island. The open air, buslike taxi took us directly to our destination. Arriving at A La Mer was unreal. HELLLLLOOOOOOOOO, St. John's.
Ryan and a few of his friends greeted us ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Antigua's Yepton Estate Cottages St. John's
W e spent over two weeks in Yepton Cottages in February this year.
This spot is amazing. The owners, Gabriella and Douglas, were absolutely amazing. The would get cabs for us whenever we called. Oh, and they even give you a cell phone while your there. Talk about thinking of everything. The cottages are better than my apartment - the kitchen allowed me to find a hidden chef deep within myself! Beautiful and spacious, they're appointed with paintings that Gabriella did. We stayed in one of the studio cottages and it was plenty large for us. Eat breakfast and dinner on the porch - go grocery shopping at the public markets; listen to the whistling ducks on the lagoon, bar-b-que with the grill on every cottage's porch. They have thought of just about everything - even high speed internet access.
Pristine and Peaceful
I enjoyed a gloriously peaceful week here in Feb 07. The bungalows are all new and spotlessly clean as well as very well equipped. The birds will fly to your terrace and almost feed out of your hand. It's also easy to get to St Johns though you will need a rental car (easy to find). Wired internet was very reliable when I was there, though not always the case in Antigua.
What a find!
Can't recommend this place enough... an idyllic setting in the best area on the island... Gabriela and Douglas really look after you... the cottages were beautiful and really comfy, and it was so great having a kitchen so we could make our own drinks and meals... the grounds were really peaceful... beautiful!
We travelled to Antigua specifically to elope. Gabriella at Yepton Estate organised this so brilliantly well for us that we had to do little more than turn up! Everything was organised by her - legal paperwork, the cake, the celibrant, the hair, the photography & video work, floral arrangements, witnesses and champagne. She even called us in Australia to discuss what we wanted to ensure that everything went smoothly; which it did.
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings then we can strongly recommend these superbly equipped cottages. The four (soon to be five) units are set on a private lagoon with a wealth of birdlife, and there is also a small swimming pool for cooling off.
Our eighth visit to Antigua was very special, we were pleased to find these immaculate & especially well equiped cottages on a lagoon with views & birds galore. We like quiet places that are close to the beach, shops, & resturants. St Johns is 15min by taxi with shops & good grocery, resturants are there & closer, and the beach is a 5min walk. These cottages are unique in cleanliness, decor, and superbly equiped kitchen. A true find on a lovely island.
