Antigua's Yepton Estate Cottages

... visibility here was so-so since they didn't force people to swim so they were just walking on the ocean floor kicking up dust.
We continued to the Altlantic side of the island where we saw the hell's bridge and had a lunch of cold chicken and salad on an island. There was no snorkeling at this stop so I walked to the east side of the island to watch the kite surfers.
We continued ...
... I napped in the car there, and when I woke it was raining. So much for reading on the beach. I headed to the airport a bit early, just because I was done and might as well read there as in a car in the rain.
The Antigua airport is a small airport, but it does have a restaurant (Big Banana) with free wifi on both sides of security. Like most international airports, it has duty-free shops as well. I was actually surprised ...
... We are very steady at this level, the highest accommodation deck just one below the restaurant and pools etc. In fact it is called the Concierge level because the balcony and suites here receive special attention. The other passengers are paying triple our fare! We are ...
... to look forward to in retirement which unfortunately is still a long, long, long away for me.
There is no signs of rain just tropical sunshine as I head for the beach. A posted sign at a property next is refreshing to see and gives me huge respect for the government here. This is how it use to be where I grew up. Sadly with the introduction of Atlantis in the Bahamas, I think this is no longer the case.
From Siboney towards Sandals, white sand along with ...
... Lucia from Antigua.
We docked again in front of customs, cleared that then head for our usual spot in the bar where Ness and I had spent 4 days the week before. Nathaniel and Ariel borrowed my laptop and booked a hotel in Antigua, flight to St Lucia and a hotel there as well for their last days of their honeymoon. They were to stay one more night on Illusion so this allowed us to have a farewell dinner that night. Dinner was nice ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Antigua's Yepton Estate Cottages St. John's
W e spent over two weeks in Yepton Cottages in February this year.
This spot is amazing. The owners, Gabriella and Douglas, were absolutely amazing. The would get cabs for us whenever we called. Oh, and they even give you a cell phone while your there. Talk about thinking of everything. The cottages are better than my apartment - the kitchen allowed me to find a hidden chef deep within myself! Beautiful and spacious, they're appointed with paintings that Gabriella did. We stayed in one of the studio cottages and it was plenty large for us. Eat breakfast and dinner on the porch - go grocery shopping at the public markets; listen to the whistling ducks on the lagoon, bar-b-que with the grill on every cottage's porch. They have thought of just about everything - even high speed internet access.
Pristine and Peaceful
I enjoyed a gloriously peaceful week here in Feb 07. The bungalows are all new and spotlessly clean as well as very well equipped. The birds will fly to your terrace and almost feed out of your hand. It's also easy to get to St Johns though you will need a rental car (easy to find). Wired internet was very reliable when I was there, though not always the case in Antigua.
What a find!
Can't recommend this place enough... an idyllic setting in the best area on the island... Gabriela and Douglas really look after you... the cottages were beautiful and really comfy, and it was so great having a kitchen so we could make our own drinks and meals... the grounds were really peaceful... beautiful!
We travelled to Antigua specifically to elope. Gabriella at Yepton Estate organised this so brilliantly well for us that we had to do little more than turn up! Everything was organised by her - legal paperwork, the cake, the celibrant, the hair, the photography & video work, floral arrangements, witnesses and champagne. She even called us in Australia to discuss what we wanted to ensure that everything went smoothly; which it did.
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings then we can strongly recommend these superbly equipped cottages. The four (soon to be five) units are set on a private lagoon with a wealth of birdlife, and there is also a small swimming pool for cooling off.
Our eighth visit to Antigua was very special, we were pleased to find these immaculate & especially well equiped cottages on a lagoon with views & birds galore. We like quiet places that are close to the beach, shops, & resturants. St Johns is 15min by taxi with shops & good grocery, resturants are there & closer, and the beach is a 5min walk. These cottages are unique in cleanliness, decor, and superbly equiped kitchen. A true find on a lovely island.
