here we are, with a 5 day installment

... give us each some space to gather ourselves. As I stormed back towards A, not at all ready to apologise, in fact, ready for Round 2, he declared he'd been bitten by a snake. I of course was then in that awful state of mixed emotions: anger at being upstaged, still angry from the argument, frightened that we should be going to hospital, worried he might be about to collapse, not quite believing him, and terrifying myself envisaging me having to drive to the nearest ...

Hang gliding & seated flying

... seated flying ( this is what i call it, not the technical term I'm sure!)
and this one guy comes up to me and says hey do you want to have a go? I freaked out, i thought he meant for free!! anyway he then goes for around $300!! I'm like sure, but only if you give me a bit more money you have a deal!!! I think we had our wires crossed so we parted ways.
This was when Jack informs us of our lack of security and we all hope we have a car to go back to.

Camden NSW

... tourist information Office in Katoomba recommended the 75k drive to Jenola Caves which are supposed to be very spectacular. What they had neglected to mention is that the tours through have restricted numbers and are usually fully booked especially those with the least stairs to climb. When I finally arrive though some pretty but not stunning country I found that there was no available tour apart from the one which included pot-holing ...

Sydney Marathon

... us moved over to the isotonic sports drink stand, where we had to make up big drums of the stuff and then pour jugfuls into individual cups, stacking them a few rows up. There was a big old fat bloke who was supposed to be our team leader as he's been helping out for a few years but he was pretty useless and just took up alot of room. There were a few different events going on and the most of them were under way by 6.30 so we started to get some of ...

Surfing at Manly Beach

... to the 8ft board I learnt on, thinking I'd be up to the challenge. This created an extreme combo of difficulty - learning all new reference points and balancing skills, plus harder waves. They were so frequent that I spent most of my time fighting them, rather than attempting to surf them. when I did manage to try standing up, the waves I had selected either died prematurely, or I fell off the board as a result of balancing on a small board ...

... makers so we decided to stay away. Manly was a 20 minute ferry journey from Circular Quays, and a return ticket was approx GBP6.00 which is reasonable. We had visited Manly previously, when my cousin and wife took us there is the evening, it is a lively little beachside town, with many places to dine and relax, anyhoo back to our day trip, it wasn’t very hot, according to Erika the water was very very cold, but that didn’t stop the locals doing what they do ...

... with sliding doors that make a Star Trek "whoosh" as they close. A voice says, “Welcome to Exceloo. Your maximum use time is 10 minutes.” Then it starts to play elevator music. The toilet flushes when you start to wash your hands. It was hilarious – exactly what I’d expect to find on the streets of Tokyo, not the suburbs of Australia.

The National Park trail begins through a leafy eucalyptus forest, with periodic views of the ...

"Limbo" - Get This Prep Over With!

A good friend at a recent BBQ shared his view of the correlation between a real adventure and preparation. He said the more demanding and uncomfortable the preparation, the more exciting and memorable the adventure would be. I did ponder upon this comment for some time, and wonder if my current 'sprung like a coiled spring' disposition will therefore lead to a heightened euphoria of whatever it is we are soon to discover/ uncover/ endure ...

The life of a backpacker

... the world lives, it's cheap, and will be an amazing ending to the year or traveling. I want to travel to Bali (Indonesia), maybe island hop/ Singapore/ Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) where I've got a friend from Chicago/ Thailand/ Laos/ Cambodia/ Vietnam/ and I'd really love to travel to India as well. It should be do-able in 3 months. While it was easy to travel in Australia and New Zealand alone I'd really like someone to travel with in Asia. Many ...

Yvette: star wars science vs reality or something exhibition at powerhouse. not as good as expected - lots of hands-on experiments the average school would be able to put together but lots of props from the films and stuff so that was quite interesting. lots of bits from the films playing to illustrate things with commentary - some of this said absolutely nothing of any note, especially one about intelligent transport which was just witter for about 10 minutes. rest of museum ...
