... at it and it scared me, I kept getting pulled right under the waves and getting all dizzy from the water up my nose, in my eyes and in my ears, it was horrendous. I gave up as just sat on the board floating around near the shore where the waves wouldn't get me! I'm such a whimp. It's something I think I could probably grow to love and enjoy when I get better at it and I definitely need lessons to make that happen! A big drive today, almost 50kms to Augusta, the most south western town in Australia. First settled in 1830 the town is situated on the banks of the Blackwood River and Hardy Inlet where it meets the Southern Ocean. We drove through beautiful tall Karri forests and called into Hamelin Bay on our way south. The mammoth cave near Margaret river is impressive with a history and fossils dating back 46,000 years. The underground temperature is between 15-17c all year and there is a number of other similar caves in the local area.
