... then we went to the Market place. We then went to the hotel bar and had a mai tai and a beer with nachos. There was a light breeze and we felt very lucky to be here. Now we are in our room and are going to check out the APPLE STORE and the COACH store. There are ABC stores in every block, really and we each bought a little tote with a matching wallet for $12. Will post pictures tomorrow!

Sun City West, Arizona, United States sandi38... and off-road vehicles were in evidence on the many trails throughout the area. We passed 'Hot Springs' resort, a palm tree filled valley in the wilderness (seemed to be closedand probably a private residence) and all of a sudden were confronted with a sign indicating that much of the road ahead followed a riverbed - Proceed with cautionand watch for flash floods! We proceeded. Even Scott, who has spent ...
Maricopa, Arizona, United States momadunc... north end of the lake, we had been up and down many slopes and still needed to retrace our steps! We had great views and there was still evidence of the flower show that the park host indicated was at it's peak last week. In the evening, Scott rounded up some wood and we had our first campfire since starting our travels. The moon was almost full, the sky ...
Maricopa, Arizona, United States momaduncWe woke to clear skies and sunshine....as we do most days! A walk over the hill to the visitor's center was in order and that gave us access to the shoreline walk. The lake is beautiful and the hills beyond remind me of the hills and lakes in Scotland. The flowers in this area were at ...
Maricopa Regional Park, Arizona, United States momadunc... production, the closer the urban development! The GPS let us down! The address for the regional park led us to a vacant piece of land about ten miles from where we knew the park should be! It was obviously a mailing address. One more adventure for the books! When we finally arrived, the park did not disappoint us! In these regional parks there are no reservations and, once you have paid at the ...
Maricopa, Arizona, United States momadunc... a lot of effort to not be a complete and utter jackass when he's sick. But he is still a bit mean when he's ill. His parents show up to get us at 4:30, which I think is a bit late. Most airports will tell you to show up at least an hour before your flight. So, we're already under the gun. Apparently they took the 101, disregarding all common sense. You just don't get on the 101 during rush our if you want to get ...
Phoenix, Arizona, United States izzybaz... City of Tempe man and a total stranger), I had the truck towed to a shop where I learned it would cost about $500 to fix. That would be $500 that we were going to use to pay for the hotel. ****. When we call his parents to tell them the bad news, they freak out. They've already paid for the plane tickets, which can't be refunded. Dan and I discussed just offering to try to repay them for the ...
Phoenix, Arizona, United States izzybaz... time just gawping at it. I walked miles round the rim and froze myself silly watching the sunset - bizarrely there was nobody else there, and I got the whole place to myself - fantastic! The next morning, I scraped myself out of bed at 5am to stand in the dark, hypothermic air to watch the sun rise over the canyon. I don't have to tell you that the photos don't really do it all justice. There were hardly any other visitors to the place, and that coupled ...
Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States littlesthoboDay 7: Salome, AZ to Wickenburg, AZ (54.5 miles; 3:46) Breakfast this morning consisted of steel cut oats with dried cranberries and pecans, a banana, and hot chocolate. I was ready early, and waited impatiently for Di to finish eating, packing, and pumping her tires. We hadn't gone more than four miles before we entered Wenden, another of the numerous tiny towns on the route. It was bitterly cold, and the Ingredients Coffee Bar ...
