... the mornings as it got really hot as the day went on. The jobs ranged from housework and gardening to repairing the cats runs and cutting down trees! It was really hard and hot work and we got really bitten and scratched out in the garden.

We were grateful of the afternoons to ourselves and tried to get out and about as much as we could and Peta helped us by giving us lots of lifts to various places. We visited the Glasshouse mountains and did a ...

Wut auf hoher See

Aussies Rule

... down and the rip tide up, the boys also tried a boogy board stunt or two. However, we all soon discovered that it is indeed WINTER in Australia and the bathtub like ocean temperatures of Asia were not following us. Steve saved the day by arriving with an Aussie Rules football which allowed the boys an alternative activity (bought with the Aussie $ kindly gifted to the boys by the Nicolsons-thanks Bill and Joyce.) The day ended with a delicious tea (a.k.a. dinner--when Jennifer ...

Noosa New Year

... of a far better quality then most of the ones us humans in Britain enjoy. Those pesky dogs! Lee was kind enough to take me on a tour of the property one morning. He went ahead with a machete and hacked our way through the undergrowth whilst I tottered along behind him trying to look at one with the environment - which I failed. An amazing place, Lee and Heather have big plans for the land and I look forward to watching the progress and coming ...

NOOSA TO NEUTRAL BAY

... a Ramsar site with 40km of lakes, beaches, sand dunes and a dramatic finale at the Sugarloaf Point lighthouse at Seal Rocks where we met the laidback surfing custodian of the lighthouse, complete with Bafana Bafana beanie who had lived and romanced in Durban way back in the 70's. Then it was a short swing down the Pacific Highway to the Wilsons in Newcastle and south over the Hawkesbury River and Joanna and daryl's home in Neutral Bay on Sydney's north shore.

Leaving Home

After years of dreaming and planning we finally finish the renovations and sell our family home. It was hard to leave not just a beautiful home but a beautiful area and friends. One thing for sure though is we will be back. We love to travel but this ...

Home to a jungle!

... at the entrance to the Louvre - on time (in hind site they realized they may have been better off catching a bus), so their first museum stop wasn't as relaxing as mine, and after buying our tickets (which was a breeze on this overcast winters day - no queuing at all) our first stop had to be to sit and re-fuel, which we did at the fairly ordinary cafeteria in the Louvre. Over croque monsieur, pizza slices and coffee, we studied the guide to the Louvre and plotted our course. We ...

Some facts about this place: Australia is the world's sixth largest country and it's largest island. It's the only island that's also a continent and the only continent that's only a country. It was the first continent to be conquered from the sea, and the last. It's the only nation that began as a prison. It has more living things that will kill you than anywhere else. Of the worlds ten most poisonous snakes, all are Australian. If you are not stung or pronged to death in some ...

At last...THE SUN

After four days of grim overcast I awoke yesterday (again, at an uncharacteristic 6:30am) to find a cloudless blue sky. I ran about five miles, hearing the excited chirruping of an incredible diversity of birds-magpies, butcherbirds, bee eaters, and rosellas. When I made it to the same beachhead from my earlier run, near the Currimundi estuary, bunches of surfers were already suiting up in the parking lot. Things were already starting to warm up as I ...
