... and missed out on all the stuff worth seeing.

According to LP the landscape is "embellished by soaring pine trees and scattered with bulbous limestone cliffs that teeter like giant haystacks above placid tobacco plantations, Parque Nacional Vinales is one of Cuba's most magnificent natural settings." Well said LP. Once out of town (which involved crossing a stream on some iron girders) Henry and I proceeded onwards down dusty tracks only used by carts pulled ...

... I fear this may become a habit. We move onto a rum factory which is open but operating at a very slow pace, and have our first taste of rum for the day. ... amazing views. The ones we enjoyed were within about 3km of town (some with small hills to navigate). - Los Jazmines Hotel. About 3km back out of town towards Pinar del Rio. A bit hilly the last 1km. As you come into the car park there is a massive viewing area. Just before the Hotel there was also a little Paladar restaurant on the hillside, with the tables on stilted platforms overlooking the valley. We would've eaten here over the resort any time, much more peaceful and relaxed. ...

... From there we headed west and then north towards the sea for a couple of hours at the beach. Allegedly the trip is about 65kms but you can’t be sure as you aren’t able to take a GPS into Cuba and the signs are not to be believed in terms of the number of kms you have travelled. 0km in 5 minutes, 3km in 15 and 7km in 4… Either way it takes about an hour and involves avoiding treacherous potholes, turkeys, pigs, goats, cattle and chickens playing ...
