... up to 50-60 feet. Apparently that is becoming a tourist attraction. People will come down to the beach to see these storms come on to shore. I don't think you would want to be too close to shore.
Canada has many unique areas and this western coast of Vancouver Island would, certainly be one of them.

There are a few impatient drivers on the road but we are being cautious plus it is the car in front that is holding everyone up and when it comes to climbing the mountains he stays in the overtaking lane not the slow lane and irritates the ones who want to overtake. ... rain set in we decided our best option was to test out Tofino’s bakery an went to the Common Loaf bakery for a chocolate brownie! It was worth it, even though the weather is not looking good for an evening run! So back to the Trek Inn for a well deserved cup of Yorkshire tea! We were really enjoying the cooler weather and.....NO BUGS!
After dinner we headed down to the beach to watch the sun set into the fog. Some people were bravely in the water, but most were just walking the beach. It was fantastic to see the ocean and hear the waves crashing!
That night the crashing waves soothed all of us to sleep.
