... local market at Valdivia. After settling into the lovely cabin, equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, 8 beds, barbecue and a patio overlooking the well tended grounds, Helen, Francisco, Gerardo and I took a ride to the waterfalls of Ojos de Caburgua.... Beautiful blue waters with wonderful surroundings. We then made our way back to the cabin picking up some cakes along the way at the Swiss Centre to enjoy with a cup of tea and ...

Day 2 Day two was the first 'proper' days trekking, with our 5kg of essential belongings safely strapped into our saddle bags, our tents folded and food loaded onto a pack horse-which was weighed down with a hefty load, but as compensation, was free to run untethered amongst the group as we rode, stopping wherever he fancied for a nibble of grass and slurp out ...

... point for our summit push and then took off the crampons. Little did we know we had been carrying plastic sleds up with us the whole time so we got those out and speeded down the mountain.

This was by far the highlight of the day. The slopes were steep but we controlled our speed (or not) with our ice picks. Maarten and I had a race and he hit me at a few points in time cuz he caught me. From the summit to the point where ...

... Chile and the town of Valdivia but our highlight here was exploring a little place named Niebla. On the coast it's famous for it's forts and mercardo (market). But we didn't make it to the forts and instead spent 5 hours eating in the market where you could get any type of traditional Chilean food.

Our final stop was in Pucon home of Villarica Volcano, which we climbed with our ice picks over gravel and snow. After a 5 hours ascent we reached ...
