      ... They are cut into dark chocolate brown stone up to about five feet in height. The lighter the newer the cuttings as we learned. Originally the area was a peninsula jutting out into a prehistoric lake dated back to about 12, 000 years ago. I got a few pictures which will appear on Flickr when I get them editted.

      ... up a steeper trail on the closed section of Glen Alpine road to the abandoned 19th century resort. We passed by back woods cabins that would only be accessible by off road vehicles. In some areas the road was filled with water. We portaged around these very wet spots. By 5:30 pm we surrendered to our tired achy bodies and rewarded ourselves to a tasty pizza dinner. It’s 3’ wide and 400’ long.
