The illness has me now...

... clever.

If anyone knows of this disease, please can you let me know the cure. But please, please bear in mind that i think we are talking hours rather than days. As I write this, I grow weak. I'm not long for this world.

Thought of the Day

I must go in, the fog is rising.

For reference

I still have so much to give.
I hope men will say of me that I did duty by my country.

the perfect day

... of the Indians, it was twenty "sleeps," or nights, between
the two camps.

It took ten "sleeps" to get halfway between them. This became the
location of the present town of Ten Sleep."

With a population of 350 (estimated) it is a sleepy little Western town but
full of natural glory and splendor. And with delicious oven-baked pizza
too in the town's only pizzeria!

Day 6 - Greybull,Wy to Custer, WY

... turn on a dime and charge you down ! At first, I was worried for him and ran out of the motor home after him but when I saw the size of it I high tailed it out of dodge and looked on from the safety of the window !! We drove into a very cool town called Custer and after a great shopping spree hankered for a real BBQ meat dinner !! You could smell it down the street ! Bob was in heaven and even Coralyn thought her beef burger ...

R'more to Greybull & too much excitement between!

... there’d been a thick covering of insects on it. And, there was little traffic on the road, no thunder and lightening, so it really seemed like a walk in the park!

Forty miles of rain later, I was beginning to think that it made sense to just motor through Wyoming and skip Devil’s Tower. (It’s about 40 miles off the highway.) But as I drove, and engaged in a one person debate (which I love, because I always win) Mrs. McGuyer kept ...

Day 24 Yellowstone to Greybull

... few at first then great herds later - they are huge beasts. Monty got a whiff off them and was immediately on the alert - given half a chance he would have leapt out of the window and given chase. Next stop was Old Faithful - and what a spectacle that geyser was. It was set in a great amphitheatre and true to its name it went off pretty well exactly on time. The warden explained how they could predict the eruption, give or take 5 minutes and ...

Day 3

... western town with lots of casinos inside the old buildings. I went to the Mount Moriah Cemetery where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried. At the cemetery is a overlook where you can see the entire town and the hills that surround it. I did not do any gambling there........ saving that for Reno. Next stop....... Devil's Tower. WOW The rest of my day was spent driving into Wyoming where they decided to detour me because of ...

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and South Dakota

The Sturgis Motorcycle rally was AWESOME!!! We were well received by the bikers, and shared camp with 5 Harley-riders from Pennsylvania. We saw concerts with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gretchen Wilson, Alice in Chains and David Lee Roth. The festival was all about Bikes, Beer and Boobs. Yes, it put Mardi Gras to shame for sure:) And there was no security, no rules, not even guidelines, yet one of the most respectful and considerate festival crowds we have ...

Solving Problems and Visiting old Friends

I left Spearfish early this morning. Camping has a unique way of waking me up pretty early, so I was out of the sleeping bag by 6:30AM- which is really impressive by my standards. As soon as I hit Wyoming, I stopped for gas and coffee and made a call to NAPA Auto parts in Bozeman. I thought I knew the problem with the car and I had been advised to get the part and have it fixed by my buddies in Bozeman. The conversation with the NAPA guy was great ...

Custer's Last Stand and My Continued Van Problems

... at the hands of one of the worst military leaders our country had. If Custer had been in Vietnam he would have probably been fragged. If you look at where the men were you would realize they were sitting ducks. Custer was looking for glory and had no regard for the safety of his men and he led them into a trap. Our history books in school as I was growing up pretty much touted "manifest destiny" as god's will. I don't buy that. I read an interesting ...

Stalking a Moose

When I went to move the van in the morning to another spot in the campground it stalled and flooded. After waiting awhile I did get it started but there was a lot of smoke and a sooty type of powder coming out the exhaust-more vehicle problems. Another say was dedicated to fixing the van. Checked dwell and timeing, found the vacuum was low and started ...
