Woke up to another lovely breakfast and chill around the pool – a great start to the last day of 2014! The rest of the gang fancied a massage today so Luke, Karen and Ange set out leaving us with a nice morning/afternoon to ourselves. After much reading by the pool we finally got our stuff together and headed out for a late lunch. The main streets on the Island were all being prepared for tonight's NY celebrations which included a ban on horse drawn carts on certain sections ...

... into consideration that it lasted over an hour and a half. At one point the pilot came on the speaker and announced that in order to avoid the weather we have gone as high as we can and also a hundred miles off course and there is nothing more he could do. You can find people chilling in berugaks at any time of the day or night, though they’re further encouraged to hang out there by ...

... to the beach at some point. It was so nice to not be in a rush or have to be somewhere that day. So I leisurely caught up on Facebook and emails before making my way out of bed and onto my terrace where I was greeted with a pot of tea and a freshly made banana pancake. This is the life. So around 10:30 I finally started to make a move and strolled around town, stopped in at the store to grab some water and snacks and then headed to the beach. I turned ...

Lucky strike - arriving in Senggigi (Lombok)

A travel blog entry by niomioconnor on May 27, 2014

So the boat trip to Lombok was very interesting. We had to wait around all day until the afternoon to even get a boat because the company's signs advertise wrong times !! It was a struggle to get on the boat with our big backpacks, which was totally overfilled by about 20 people and heavily rocking to the side when we set off. I actually planned in my head how I would swim back to shore if the boat sank and how I would get back to England without any remaining ...
