We woke up to another beautiful sunrise. The sky was cloudy and it was cool out, temp in 50's. We hiked up the mountain, found a trail that seemed more like a hiking trail, narrow with boulders and rocks to climb over. It is called Cougar Run,much higher up the mountain. We didn't see any cougars, just a flock of turkey. We hiked about six ...

Exhausted from our drive, we finally arrived in our hotel near Colorado Springs. We knew we had two options for visiting the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Arrive early or go later in the afternoon. Going in the middle of the day was hazardous as the temperatures of the sand can reach 120 degrees. OUCH!!!! After three days of endless hiking and driving, we decided on a mid afternoon arrival.    The towns we drove past to get to Colorado springs had interesting names ...

As chance would have it, today was the opening day of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and the United States Olympic Training Center is in Colorado Springs. We made it there just as they were closing early for a celebration downtown. So we walked through some of the exhibits and decided to come back tomorrow ...
