De Ja Vu!!

... a job there. Now we have to get up to speed on getting electricity connected and what other bills will need to be organised!
The blog will probably not be as frequent for a while whilst life gets boring with daily routines! But I'll definitley up date from time to time and once we go over to the North island in March things will pick up again.

Last Temptation of Christchurch

... have been anything. “Listen” he continued “I know you have a rubber duck. Let me have it.” I went through all the cockney rhyming slang I could think of in my mind for anything that sounds remotely like Rubber Duck. Tubby Cook? Cover Hook? I then decided to to let the very thin down with the kids façade slip. “Yeah... I have no idea what a rubber duck is. And I find it very unlikely that anything I do have would have a nickname in New Zealand ...

South Island Adventure!

... museum.. turns out we were very wrong.. We ended up in this really random exhibit with dead birds and they were playing bird songs through out the place. It was very quiet and eerie, we ended up giggling and getting out of there very quickly! We found the main entrance and I was pretty impressed with their museum. It was similar to the Milwaukee Museum, they even had an old world Christchurch exhibit. Kelly and I are in a BIOSCI class together about Antarctica. Christchurch is ...

Christchurch Day 68 and 69

... the 'Arts Centre', but it closed so I will have to check it out another day. In the evening I chilled out, dossing around, watching movies (trying to keep my spending to a minimum)) and having frustration trying to backup my photos. I haven't made any friends yet, although most people are only in Christchurch for a short while, as many fly from here. I'm a bit down about being on my own again, but optimistic and excited about going to Australia!!

The adventure begins

... His name was Sean and he was Dannish and drunk! After kissing our hands many time (and Jess's head!) he proceeded to start an arm wrestling contest with the boys, which i think ended in him telling Dean that he would not taking him hunting tomorrow as promised??? What?

Anyhow the night wore on and a guy named Rob turned up and joined in too. He was the local Ice Climbing guide and the boys loved this. However he also told us that he was Batman but as it was his ...

Harleynut Tackles The Big White Cloudy Campervan

... a sandwich (camper +), where I encountered my first NZ sandfly. I despatched it to midgie valhalla with calls of "Die Mother######, Die). Little was I to know that her last calls were heard as far away as Klondyke Corner. With a bellyful of grub, we hit the trail again. As we traversed the terrain, we were bemused by the small streams flowing in what seemed to be gigantic granite rock riverbed quarries. We were to find out why later. The sun reflected down off the snow-capped ...

more from south oz and the northern territories!

... action, on the morning that we decided to leave coober pedy, down came the rain and washed the spider out! it literally bucketed it down, so much so that there was no way we were going to be able to tackle the gravel roads leading out to 'nowhere' and so unfortunately we too would become another couple yet to get to the moon! a wee small consolation prize however did come in the form of an underground church we visited, which was pretty ace, and came with a massive neon cross, a ...

Tell me you didn't forget to pack the snowshoes!

... for unloading our bags. We are in Cains (Cans) now. And I put away "I heart NZ" tee shirts. Word for the day, "gobsmacked" as in the flower festival display contest winner saying that he was gobsmacked after winning the contest for best presentaion.  It turns out that he had been working 11 months on his booth. Rumor has it that the runner-up is considering spending 11 1/2 months getting ready for next year. Later, Ray and Jacqueline

Eight-Day Road Trip South Island, NZ

... which it was moving and it was moving 5 cm per day). As we got closer it became colder and colder because the wind coming off the ice shelf was constant and pretty damn cold. But it warmed up as we hiked around through the rain forest. When we finally got to the trail head of the glacier we strapped on "cramp-ons" so we wouldn't slip when we were on the ice. By the time we got to the ...

Christchurch

... our slowly evaporating funds we tried to budget during our first week in NZ. We went to see the free arts and Christchurch museums - with lots on Maori culture, European colonisation and Fred & Myrtles infamous Paua shell house - where self collected Paua shells covered every wall of the house! Christchurch was nice, very quaint, but after two nights at Charlie B's backpackers we were keen to see more of the South Island.
