Ao Suan Yai Beach Koh Mak, Thailand
... should be fun times the next couple of days. They did a great job today. I'm so proud of what they have accomplished this year! Friday evening I will be heading down to Kuala Lumpur and then Saturday morning to Kota Kinabalu. So you won't have an update next weekend and probably not the following weekend either. I get back to Bangkok around 5pm on Sunday the 19th...Looking forward to sharing my Borneo experiences with all of you! ::HUGS::
Koh Chang, Thailand bizarreirishsta... picture book and had a late dinner of Tom Yum Koon. Again Peter asked me not to eat alone and join him and Bonnie at their table. As i sat drinking a few beers the distant sound of thunder again could be heard and it wasn`t long before the rains came, but only for about an hour. Just started my second book called They killed my Father first,, The story of a young girl as she grows up in the Pol Pot regime of the late 70`s in Cambodia.
Koh Mak, Thailand mclark65... no beach! He was telling us that everywhere under 1500B was booked up apart from this place. I went on the internet while Nick went to ask at the only place on that beach within our budget and the man was hovering around and looking over my shoulder, finding a way to discredit everywhere I ...
Koh Mak, Thailand claramon... Not only was our place really nice, but I think it was the best deal for the money. We did find one place that was on its own little beach and had simple wooden bungalows for 700 baht a night. We might try that place if we go back for an extended amount of time. I'm posting some photos of our tour for any potential visitors to the island.
Koh Mak, Thailand dane... entire front of the bungalow was glass and I'd open the blinds at sunrise and stare out into the sea from our bed. It was amazing. It was worth $50. And the island was great. There were only a handful of hotels on our beach, and the entire island probably only had 15 or 20 places that I saw, most of them very small. Huge stretches of beach were lined with nothing but cocunut trees. It's the anti-Samui. And we had great food at reasonable prices right ...
Koh Mak, Thailand daneYesterday we had a lazy day on the beach near Bang Bao. A nice little walk through the jungle (on the road, but through the jungle none the less :) took us to a long white sandy beach with plenty of small restaurant/bar/sun bed/massage places. We picked the same one Kristina had been at the day before (KK Beach) and settled in for a full day of swimming, sunbathing and and massage. Rounded off with a massaman curry and a Tom Kha ...
Koh Mak, Thailand varney... The food is not particularly remarkable and I am disappointed with my dish which consists of chicken, bean sprouts and spaghetti strands with a bit of powdered peanut on the side. I eat it though because I am hungry. We split a bottle of water and then pay and leave. On the way back we pick up a couple of Archa beers for 35 baht each, some fruit and a couple of Red Bulls (a sweet, caffeine-laden fruit drink). We drink our beers while swinging in the hammock and watch the sun ...
Koh Chang, Thailand humbuggy... unheard of for Dean and I), reading, kayaking, eating lots, discussing politics and putting the world to rights. Dean started off the UK Best Seller for Christmas 2009 and I applied for some funding to do some work in India next year. A very good time had by all. We liked Koh Chang lots and hope that it manages to retain its quiet, natural corners for a while yet...with the batteries recharged to buzzing we planned our route into Cambodia.
Kho Kood, Thailand timogmaria... bus was so cheap for a 5 hour trip, why suffer if we don't have to! Halfway into the journey the skies opened up and it absolutely hosed down. No problem, we thought as we will be dropped off at the bus station from where we will get a tax to the ferry. How bad can it be? Well the bus station was a shop - pretty much in the middle of no where. The driver stood over us with umbrellas as we dragged our heavy packs out from the ...
