Jamaica Mon!

Jamaica was my very first missions trip. I went with Shayna and Chad for one week and we had an amazing and eye opening experience. The water was beautiful and we went to ocho rios and climbed the waterfal too-it was so beautiful! We also witnessed poverty and need in ways that we had never seen before. We were able to minister God's love to people but honestly I think we all took away much more from this experience than we could ever give!

Just landed... Welcome mat

I got a ride from the airport to the upper town. After check in, I ventured in the city and was soon offered some "stuff". Oh well, no thank you. The Bob Marley museum is quite interesting and probably the only notable attraction in Kingston (other than this feeling of being in a different country).

Jamming to Jamaica

... off the boat. This announcement of canceling the crew change instantly turned the mood on the boat semi-sour. But eliminating the near shore work in Jamaica means that we will all get home earlier so eventually everyone made lemonade out of their lemons and the survey continues. It will be a bit disappointing to be only three miles from Kingston and not be able to see the city ...

Two cricket matches, Bob Marleys House and Murder!

... insurance each day and if you incur any damages you pay the first $1200 !!! Can anyone say 'scam' ??? We eventually negotiated to pay a little more with the agreement there would be zero excess required should damage occur. We enjoyed some excellent Jerk chicken with Uncle Smiley and then set off on the 3 - 4 hour drive across the island to Kingston. Gregrian took first driving shift to Ocho Rios where we ...

No Place Like Time N Place!!

... to resemble...and had half of this hair done in extensions that were not finished so he had the bottom in a long two strand twist (like mine) and the top a fuzzy afro! No shame that guy. He smiled a lot and his teeth were stained, probably from smoking too much ganja! The place was white sand as fine as powder, clear turquoise water as warm as the tap water before it gets hot and the breeze, balmy and brisk, blowing my phony ...

HOLIDAY GREETINGS!

... until next week. Following the holidays and after the landslides have been cleared and things dry out some, life will begin to return to normal. Already, people are asking us, "We see no zinc, what of the supplies?" At first, back in October and November, when we were doing the damage assessment surveys, we had been quite confident of different NGO and governmental programs' ability to respond and from the support from abroad, etc. that there would be plenty of ...
