... then made a plan to make a big loop through the park. We had lunch at the String Lake picnic area. We scoped out a few new locations for future photo opportunities, but the lighting was pretty much awful as the sun moved to the western side of the range.

We tried finding a spot which was accessible by fire roads in the national forest… but we didn't have good enough directions ...

... look for wildlife behind Jackson Lodge. We saw lots of Elk and birds, but didn't get to see a moose or bear. But it was still a great way to end our stay there. The ranger had a big spotting scope, so we could see the animals up close, and she showed us some of the cool stuff in the mountains. It was a nice way to wrap up our stay, and we were ready to head to Yellowstone - probably the place Dean and I had been looking forward to the most on this trip.

... road, quite close to us even before the overtaking begins. So annoying and we are getting quite sick of the pathetic, dangerous attitude that seems to be a constant throughout America. ... squelching, through some woods and out onto sides of high ridges, it was a fun and scenic walk.

We later returned to our hostel to relax for a little while, before sitting in the car park to cook some dinner on our stove like a couple of hobos. Our hostel said it had a kitchen, but on inspection what they apparently qualified as a kitchen was in fact a microwave, surrounded by ping pong tables. Hence our car park cooking ...
