      Nothing is perfect

A travel blog entry by jchende on Feb 07, 2015

Spent the day with the realtor in Venice. We now know this drive of an hour down and an hour back, by heart. Saw 6 properties, 3 of which would be great EXCEPT... The little gray house in our realtor's neighborhood. Beautifully redone inside, could be bought with the furniture, has a pool, you can walk/bike to the beach BUT the price is close to $300,000 and the neighborhood is very mixed. Some properties are a little run down, while others have had some updating and it ...

... people, and Bill with the local golf course. I am looking online to find a place in Venice for February. Unless something happens between now and next winter and we buy something. Feb 4. In keeping with the theme of one day making a difference, I got an email from the realtor, Janet. I had asked her to arrange for one more trip thru 3 homes we liked in Plantation. I wanted another look before we left the area. I got a return email with ...

      St. Pete's Beach, Fl

We're now further up the coast in St. Pete's Beach, FL. Sunny Florida has gone a bit cool on us with cloudy skies. We walked on the beautiful St. Pete's beach every day, sometimes twice a day, and generally relaxed, reading and watching tv. This is a summer vacation town and there's not much else to do here, especially in the off season.

After a couple days, we drove north to the Florida panhandle, staying for the weekend in ...

... a pump out on the dock you can use anytime you want. (Pump out on demand! That is really haute couture marine style, believe me. Captain says the pump sucks like a tornado.) The boats here are huge, making our Calliope look quite small. While initially we hoped to be right on the row facing the bay, we are now very glad those big boys are parked in front of us because they provide a wind block for the relentless winds we have been experiencing. We have had several days with ...

What its like to be a snowbird

... temps hit 67 this week so it's a short frolic. There is a bird sanctuary about 6K from here that has nice cycle paths through the woods. Tuesdays are 15% off days at Bells so we now have full snowbird wardrobes at 35% plus off for being "fabulous and over 50".
This week we motored up the coast to Indian Shores for a luncheon and visit with friends Glynnis and Trevor, who also winter here on the Gulf. They are more experienced and committed ...
