It was around 40-60 miles before we actually got to exit of Yellowstone. We once again got stuck in Bison traffic, this time there was just one rather than a whole herd and it was just casually walking down the middle of the road blocking traffic on both sides.

We had to turn around and come back the same way. The good news is that we saw two Moose on the way back down. We ended up back in town for a late lunch. We leave tomorrow for Yellowstone National Park

... at the Badland’s gate by 9:45am... and so on. By the end of the day, we had also hit Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument; driven through the Black Hills, Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, and Thunder Basin National Grasslands; had ribs in Buffalo, WY; saw the Big Horn mountains appear out of the very hazy sunset; and found a cute little hotel in Sheridan, WY (our final stopping place for the day).

    The weather was perfect. ...
