All the basic research and road route was analyzed and the plan was to start @ 5pm on 19th, but finally we started our trip on @ 5.30pm from Chennai late by 30 minutes (not bad). Fruits, Snacks and Music CD’s are loaded up in the car (Sreeni). Sreeni our NH driving specialist has headed towards Bangalore – Mysore – Bandipur – Mudhumalai. If anyone likes long drives, these roads were truly amazing and worth all the toll ...
... sense of belonging is in relationship to others of a similar background."
I am a TCK. My mother was living and working in Zambia when she met my father, and I was raised there until the age of seven when we moved permanently to Canada. The realization came with a chuckle, and my hosts nodding their heads as I described my own experience. “And your choice to live outside your native country is classic TCK behaviour,” said John approvingly. I didn’t know that I ...

Not that such a move would help. Hebron accepts one in every three applications, and priority is given to expatriates and Non Resident Indians doing humanitarian or missionary work in remote areas of India and Southeast Asia. Hebron is also part of the larger Nilgris region, a hub of 35 boarding and international schools. The others are more conventional institutes run, I was reliably told ...
... the bus lurched on, and we passed her camera⎯superior to mine in such conditions⎯back and forth as we spotted the wonders around us. There were dams and reservoirs and still more plantations of tea, and logging truck fully loaded with freshly cut timber.
Higher up, the human settlements were sparse and concentrated, a dozen or so buildings, houses and shops, huddled together, some with magnificent views of the hills and valleys and even a river far ...
... The inside of the building is something between a boarding school and a taxidermists, with scores of stuffed tigers, deer, foxes and other assorted hunting victims around the walls. The staff seemed to outnumber the guests by about twenty to one (although it was pretty empty). Our room was massive, and a nice fellow came every night to make us a roaring wood fire. Naturally, we made sure to have plenty of gin ...
Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India moronsontour... was gobsmacked. There are signs all over the place, no litter, no spitting and The Nilgiris is a plastic free zone and it seems to be working in Ooty, I wonder if its working as well elsewhere in the region. Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India 50odd... Reserve. Sadly, though not unexpectedly, as it was a free 'safari' after all, the much used road meant that there was little wildlife to be seen, only a male elephant taking a drink at a watering hole, though lots of wild Indian men scratching their groins and spitting at the roadside tea stands, not sure if that counts! Ooty had been described as a bit like Surrey, and the drive up was certainly green and pleasant, but unfortunately the town itself was a bit ...
Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India pmitchell1981... cold and rainy so I decided to move on. I boarded another bus 3 hours south to the city of Coimbatore. This was a very scenic route. The narrow road winds down from the top of the hills to the bottom of the steep valley. There is surprisingly quite a bit of traffic on that road so some of the corners were a bit hairy especially when we had to pass another bus or truck. I arrived in the city of Coimbatore at 7pm. I found a room, ate dinner and went to sleep.
Ooty, India mustexplore... face down. I have made friends that will last a lifetime. I have made friends that I will never see again. I have made friends that were in fact not friends. I will make plenty more friends and meet plenty more people before my time here is done. I have been alone, sometimes lonely. I have been bombarded and surrounded by chaotic crowds. I have enjoyed solitude and independence. I have partied with Austrians, Australians, Canadians, Irish, British ...
