Autorijden en Chiapas - why not to do it

Tour from Huatulco

... if only for some anti cellulite cream and seaweed fat belly remover for our cheese findu bellys. We then drove to a turtle sancutary, the locals had previously relied on the trade of the shells, but government intervention had provented this and now they are pampered and cared for...I still maintain that they are ugly, Mia likes them tho' We then headed for Zipolite, I was looking forward to this, as this was the place we were heading until we read about Huatulco on a page ...

Beach love

Zipolite has an international reputation for free love, hallucinogenic plant life and naked hippies who forgot to leave in the 60s wandering about its pristine shores. Can't work out what we did wrong then, as we spent a whole 3 days there and apart from the odd unclothed German, experienced a distinct lack of mushroom fuelled love parade. Maybe because it was still ...

... next 3 beaches across - La Ventanilla, as well as the usual undeveloped fine sandy surfy beach, as much of the Pacific coast, has a lagoon created by a sandbar. It is home to kingfishers, herons, many other bird species and crocodiles, including some biggies (look like floating logs in the pics!). Also, they rescue local wildlife and keep it on an island in the lagoon - deer, crocs, zorros, wolf like things and they have a turtle hatchery too! La ...

Adios Mazunte, Hola Chiapas!

... from the under the palm leaf roof. He claims that they help keep the mice population down in the palapa. Great.... But later on I decide to return and take a peak at that boa. It is highly possible that it will be part of my new reality so I might as well try and get used to it. I am very proud of myself for doing so. Last night was a very defining moment for me as I sat for the very first time and actually had a 3 hour conversation in ...

Atardecer maravilloso, Tortugas, y Playitas!

... This was outlawed in 1990 and various coop and sustainable development projects were started in the town to offset this huge blow to the towns economic stability. This turtle park brings in many tourists to the area which help the economy and bring more recognition to its amazing beaches and vistas. We saw many kinds of turtles and even a seal. Apparently, this seal is a cold-water seal that somehow found its way to Mexico. It was found on a ...

... is a small taxi/minibus/pickup truck with or without canopy over the back which transports people from place to place, usually along a predetermined route for a small charge. This one took us both to Puerto Angel for about 50p. Arriving in Puerto Angel, we found the tourist information office. Unfortunately it was closed, but due to reopen about 30 minutes later. We decided to wait. This being Mexico, 45 minutes later when nothing had happened, we were not ...

High Winds and Rains

... they light torches along the edge and surrounding rocks. A beer and tequila later we head back looking forward to a good nights sleep. Within an hour the rain has started. Again it picks up and monsoon rain starts. The noise is terrific - not much sleep again. We open our ground floor room as K needs to go out to the loo and there is a river outside, not far from our door. So now with the noise of rain and threat of flooding another sleepless night!

... they didn't act like they did. The three of us went to dinner at a restaurant on the water, where we drank a shot of mezcal and watched the moon rise. Dinner was good enough. Fish, if you can believe it. After dinner we went for a drink at a disco-y place on the main drag, sitting on a patio overlooking the street below. Bellybutton in Danish is NAVLE. ... there are restaurants everywhere! Its absolutely boiling here and we are wearing cute little summer outfits but sweating like crazy! (Dani has just walked out from a phone booth and has sweat literally dripping off her! Hilarious!) Today we went sunbaking (sunbathing!) and people kept offering us surfing lessons (Im telling myself its because we look so sporty with our new tans and bikinis!!)! Next we will be heading to Acapulco for more tanning! Hope you are all well! Lots of love Ten
