Shivapuri Hills Kathmandu, Nepal
HAPPY 31 TYLER Trying to plan something special for #31 wasn't an easy task but I finally came across something that was a bit like Tyler. It was perfect to escape the busyness of city life and retreat into the Kathmandu Valley for a few days. It is only about 30 min outside the main city. I had found a place, Shivapuri Heights Villa, a private cottage just for the two of us. It was located the side of the mountain overlooking the beautiful valley. We spent 2 days, 2 nights enjoying the calm,...
Kathmandu, Nepal tstewy... the Khyber’s Pass. I slept early that night after Billy’s massage. Woke up refreshing, my diarrhea ease a bit from the pill and the massage Billy gave me. I became alive again. We went to Patan and Bhakhapur.
Patan Durbar Square is one of the three major Royal Kingdoms of Nepal. It is in Lalitpur district. Richly known for its cultural heritage, particularly its tradition of arts and crafts, referred as the city of festival and feast, fine ancient art, making ...
... with. It was pretty cool seeing so many of them in one place as well. They had maybe 30 in the breeding centre. All mothers and children. The mothers were tied up but the "babies" were just running free though they tended to stick close to mumsy. There were also a pair of twins which is apparently very rare indeed. This was also the first time we met our guide for the tour, Ashok. He was pretty cool and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing which is always a good sign. Anywho ...
Kathmandu, Nepal bobofgold... br>Nepal Family Tour.
Nepal is a land of sublime scenery, time-worn temples, and some of the best hiking trails on earth. It's the kind of country that lingers in your dreams long after you leave it. This is why so many travelers are drawn back to Nepal, armed the second time round with a greater appreciation of its natural and cultural complexity, a stout pair of walking boots and a desire for sculpted calf muscles ...
... little club that had live music. Some of stayed for a few drinks and a dance which was cool. This morning 11 of the 13 of us then also went for a plane ride to check out Mount Everest and its neighbouring mountains!! Pretty damn special seeing it from above, particularly as i think its the closest i'll be to the top of the world!! No chance this time of making it to base camp as i'm off to explore a mountain range in the opposite direction so its one for the list!!

... have a brief pat down and then have their bags riffled through by a member of security!!! After this we were ushered through to the 'waiting room'. I use this term quiet lightly as this was a room with Bollywood blarring out and not a single screen or information board to give us details about our flight. Finally onto the tarmac and ready to board our plane we were security checked again in the same manner!!!
When we finally arrived in Delhi we were greated ...
... it is because it is situated on the newly Chinese built highway to the Tibetan border. Krishna had already guessed I would not be happy staying in the town so we added a further 45 minutes to our 9 hour trek in order to get out of the town. It was worth every painful step though as we reached this fantastic little hotel perched high upon the ridge. It was set up and down the side of the hill. Negotiating the many steps up and down was something of a challenge at this ...
Kathmandu, Nepal slw321... they do feed us breakfast but again, it's the same meal each day. A scrambled then fried egg and ****** white wonder-bread type toast with the same jam. I've taken to trying to arrive late or early, hijacking two eggs from the fridge and making myself a boiled egg, or french toast. God, anything but the same bloody meal every day. On a good note, they seem to make great tea as long as you ask for black, not milk. Damn British influence and their nasty milky tea. ;) For lunch or ...
Kathmandu, Nepal joannabee... a friend walked to Annapurna Base Camp where we found ourselves trapped by clouds for four days, unable to see a thing. Although, had we really needed to, we could have descended again we felt that we didn't want to have walked for a week just to be able to see a lot of cloud (which is exactly the same as cloud that can be seen from ground level anywhere in England almost any day of the year) so resolved to stay put until it cleared. It did so four days later by ...
