From Conway we drove to Sandwich stopping at a very nice Motel. We spent most of the evening in the swimming pool, the hot tub and the Sauna. A big group on a coach trip arrived and their rooms overlooked the pool. We kept waving at them but they got too embarrassed.

From there we got the ferry over to Martha's vineyard, a well known tourist area and mainly populated during the summer. 16000 ...

... are interesting, though a bit confusing as to towns and villages. For example, Barnstable (town) has 7 villages one of which is named Barnstable. Another of the 7 is Hyannis. Hyannisport, a familiar name to folks my age, is a small residential village, an affluent summer community and home of the Kennedy compound and Kennedy family residences. No, we did not get an invitation!

... I had already been on the road for 9 hours and had 5 to go, I could not pass them up. Buffalo. Wow. You have a couple cool-looking buildings, but otherwise you look like a shithole. Sorry. The rain down to not much more than a misting, I parked (the attendant was not happy with the $5 in quarters I gave him, but sorry dude - I didn't want to pay an extra three dollars for an ATM fee just to get enough money to pay for parking) and strolled ...

... pilgrim monument, with what felt like a million stairs on the hot day. We spent the late afternoon walking around the Wildlife Sanctuary halfway down the coast chasing mud crabs and watching drunken bee's (apparently due to pollen overdose).

Grabbing a take out dinner and heading back down to the beach just as the sun disappeared, we saw half a dozen shooting stars as the sea, sand and sky completed our post camp wind down.
