Eleven hours of sleep. Just what I needed. After an extended breakfast and some messages with Naney, the girl that I had met earlier in Senggigi, she actually was on her way to spend the day with me here on the island. Not too many details here hahaha, but it was really nice in fact to just hang out on the beach, going for snorkling and eating. Unfortunately she had to leave ...

... to watch the sunset and have to say it was breathtaking. The sun set right over the ocean and we had a spectacular view. There was a tightrope right on the beach which I attempted to walk across during the sunset and it turns out its a lot harder than it looks and I think the furthest I got was 3 steps! We were joined by another English guy we had met in the hostel and had a very nice Indonesian dinner and a few beers. We spent the rest of the evening chatting, sat ...

... lost all confidence in getting up at 2am the next morning to climb to the mountain summit. Id been told by people who had already done the climb that the black volcano dirt absorbs all of your torch light and you cant see anything as you climb. Add to that you are climbing a ridge that is volcanic rock (pebble size) that keeps sliding down as you try and climb up. And we weren’t sure we would have a view at all given it had rained until we went to bed and we ...
