#2 Govind nagar Beach Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, 0091-9474-238-722
... much I can say about the resort. Though the cottages, built in traditional andamanese style, look lovely from outside, they lack in space. Again the beds are beautiful, but lack space. IThere used to be practically no electricity during the day. We spent 2 nights without electricity. There was no back up we made do with the mobile flash light. And the air conditioners, sadly never worked, even when electricity was there. The restaurent ’Red Snapper’ though pretty expensive ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India mywanderlust... il !
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India ericetmanu... We had all kinds of grandiose plans to visit and even stay on several of the other islands but with just one week it's not possible (especially not if you plan to dive). Since the sun sets a little early on the islands and there isn't much in the way of street lamps we decided to just take the first decent hut we found. Within seconds we made friends at our new digs and though we had plans to move to a different location, we just moved over 3 huts instead ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India carrienica05... massive knife to work it free. But he managed it and disaster was averted. Look at the smile on our hero's face - phew! Here's the Israeli hangout we stayed in, called El Dorado. The young Israelis who were good fun and taught us the Hebrew word Sababa which is basically the same as the Indian head wobble (i.e. can mean yes, no, maybe, great!, only ok etc) and that bling bling wannabe gansta-types in Israel are called ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India moronsontour... find a half dead transparent prawn in the back of Sarah's swimming trunks, its little claws were still nipping away! Fish. I was trying to get a SIM card so that I could phone dad to say happy birthday. I got chatting to the shop owner, as I was in there for about 5 hours filling in forms and providing triplicate copies of my passport and Visa etc, the usual bureaucracy. The shop owner, Jay, told me that he was originally from Calcutta, but ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India moronsontour... at a man in the crowd, the crowd surges, she goes away. a man comes out with the countenance of a king and with him he carries a small sheaf of papers. people start going batshit, the shoving is incredible. it took me back to 1984 at the duran duran "7 and the ragged tiger" concert (remember kissy??) but i press on because this flimsy paper is the ticket to my ticket outta there! he is very selective about who he gives ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India horizon_chaser... more often than I do with other foreigners also helps; I tend to find out more that way about what it's like to be Indian in the world from Indians than from Swedes. This site doesn't reflect every trip I've taken in the last ten years. Not even a fourth of them. So let me say that I've now gotten to the point where I'm going back to the same places I've already been multiple times or looking for really far-flung places to go to and see or do something new in. To the world of ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India ninedeuce... leaves at 2:00. I made it to the ferry with 2 whole minutes to spare!! I was so happy I didn't have to stay in Port Blair for the night. At this point I could finally laugh about the whole situation, but I don't think I'll ever understand the reasoning behind the airport's decision to send us back to Chennai. I'll be in touch soon with diving updates. So far the diving is really good, my instructors are fabulous, and I'm loving it! peace, Jen
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India jeneggener... Eventually we located the ideal resting place…the main door opening at the deck tunnelling in a strong breeze.

Within two hours, we reached Neil Island, a small island situated 36 Kms. north-east of Port Blair. The island has about 4000 inhabitants, mostly resettlers from erstwhile East Pakistan after Indian independence. The island has come to be known as 'vegetable bowl’ of Andaman; having worked hard for it, the local Bengali population now enjoys ...
Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India soumitra.biswas... and mat, which I intended to spread out on the sand. After setting up the camp Anjay set off down the coast a bit to catch some fish in the shallow water and rockpools. He had with him a small net, equally weighted with lead on each side, which he would throw into the water and entrap fish with. Andrew and I followed him for a while, watching him stalk fish and throw his net against the backdrop of the setting sun. We discovered an octopus in a small pool which had the ability to ...
