... said gin, and left promptly.

The very cramped bus the next day to Mangochi was actually a lot more fun than I made it sound, we were 9 travellers and 5 Malawians. Kelvin, who had organised the bus, supplied the first crate of beers and all was well. We actually ended up bumping into him and Alex a few times at the festival and hung out with them for a bit. Ant's downfall one evening may have been Alex's provision of 'Power's No. 1' spirit in sachets.... most of us ...

Week one.....

... or not) and we were allowed to carry on. Next morning we were setting off for the lake at Mangochi, and Lake of Stars festival. We were slightly worried upon seeing the 'luxury coach' that had been booked and the number of people, and bags, waiting but somehow we all fit - sitting 14 people in a mini-bus-style vehicle with barely a boot is a quick way to get to know people! And we had frequent stops for beer along the 5hr drive, so ...

Final destination . . . .almost

... to the hospital only to find that they had already had a visit from the medical council to brief them that we'd be in Mangochi for 2 weeks before starting and they weren't up for any chat about it. So we did a reccy of the town, met some of the more over-friendly locals (these guys call themselves tour guides but just want to sell you anything they can or make money any way possible), ear-marked a place to stay long term and prepared to leave for Mangochi in the morning. Busy

... off rumour spread among the bus that we wouldn't be able to cross that day due to problems with visas, and it being a Saturday nobody was working. Everyone took this very well execpt us who figured we couldn't spend another night sleeping upright/upside down/ every way possible for another night.

So we grabbed our bags, said our goodbyes, changed up some shillings on the black market and walked across the border in Malawi at about 10am.

From there we ...

But this week we have started a new program doing a Bible holiday club in an orpahange called House of Hope which is taking up a lot of our time! Casual nudity, 'Elev8', and its nearly over!!

... of cross-dressing (mostly on the boys front...as per) thrown in for good measure. many an amusing photo from that night! Georgie and I did a ton of marking the next day, turns out the majority of the class really are not soo clever, we were pretty much giving them the answers whilst reading out the questions we'd prepared for them on the board and still some of them wrote stuff like...in preferences we write "do you prefer mangoes or apples?" and their answer is ...

The long road to the Lake

... of prostitution, a very cool bracelet linked to a ring, Love it! Rachels b day was a treat had a very amusing night..mostly due to her getting completely hooondangled with some '80' percent shots and vomming, a most necessary aspect to a birthday bash abroad, i beleive. All the africans love Rahel partly due to her face being incapable of having a sad expression but also becuase she is a dude! Also we've found out some time in ...
