... her own ability gave words of encouragement for both of them and we took a slower pace to our first proper rest stop. A giant lunch of, as much rice as can dehydrate you, instant noodles with boiled egg garnish, followed by pineapple and a can of coke, was dished out at Pos 2. Tripadvisor talks of a hard climb and filthy national park. Pos 2 gave us our first evidence, but not as much as expected. ... trek itself through jungle-type areas was fun! The porters made absolutely DELICIOUS food for us, too! The night was very cold and uncomfortable for us all, though--not much sleep was had.

The second day involved hiking down from the rim to the lake and then back up the rim (further down) to camp for the second night. This was a bit more of a strenuous hike, but the skies were a bit clearer (mornings and nights are generally clear, whereas the afternoons are not) and we ...

... Lombok. Of course, Lombok means chili pepper, although none was served at our lunch. We had to specially ask for HOT, not temperature hot, SPICY HOT!!! Hmm, good stuff this sambal Bali. Lunch was wonderful, full of delicate sweets for desserts served at a resort in Kuta beach. Gretch and I swam in the warm Pacific Ocean (same temperature as Hawaii) and then soaked in one of many swimming pools on the ...
