    We left Chester, CA early for the 290 mile (470km) run to Canyonville OR. It was freezing (42F/5C) but Digger was OK in his Limo with the heater on!!!!

    After packing a soggy campground and driving into town for coffee, we parked back at the campground and walked through the "fen" to the beach where there was a Kite Festival. We picked a spot far down the beach where the speakers weren't so loud but later realized that they were announcing sport kite flying.
