    Amazingly, we are up by 6:30, breakfast eaten, dishes washed, kids organized, garbage out, and leaving town by 8:15! Then we have to stop for gas (1.54E/liter) and really bad coffee, to go!

    By 8:45, we are on the autostrada headed to Alberobello in Puglia. This is where they have the conical-roof houses. Three hours in the car with two little kids! Maybe they will fall asleep. :)

    ... of transport as an option. Other centers were reasonably easy (hills aside!) for me to access by bike from my B B. I definitely got a work out, but was able to go from my B B to Alberobello, Locortondo, and Castellana Grotte by bike in one day (ok one long day!) with nice visits in each. It was hilly though, so be warned if you plan to do some siteseeing by bike. You also may want to consider joining an organized bike tour. I found ...

    ... to see the shoreline of Italy in view! About another hour in the ferry and we made our way downstairs and after a long wait, were finally allowed to get into the car and then disembark. Welcome to Italy!

    Destination in the GPS, and we were told to drive 3 kilometers out of town and then 3 kilometers back in... Apparently the border between Croatia and Italy is quite guarded and the 3km road takes you out of the port.

    Today dad and I played trivia .One question was "What was the signature food of split?" I said banana split but my dad did not believe me but I was right. Lunch time was fantastic!
