Lake us up before we go go!
... Sarah spotted it straight away. I was a little way in front, but I still heard her sharp intake of breath. Sarah had read only the day before about two native species which were poisonous, and this spider matched the description of one of them perfectly. Fortunately, Sarah also read that it was shy and not aggressive, so we swept it gently to one side with a branch, crept around it and walked on - at a much brisker pace than before! Pucon.. like Pompeii.. but more lively..
... lives. There’s also a traffic light system in town with a key explaining each light. Green - the world is safe. Amber - heightened alert, the volcano is active. Red - Apocalypse. This system is coupled by a tower siren that at random intervals throughout the day (including early morning) trumpets it’s test tone throughout the region. You know.. that Britain air rain siren drone that jumps into your brain and resonates almost indefinitely.

Fausse eruption
Le 9/05, on arrive a Villarrica pendant l'apres midi ce qui nous a donne le temps pour trouver un camping et faire un petit tour en ville qui pour notre surprise nous fait penser au nord car on voit plein de friteries.
Le lendemain, on va a Pucon en stop environ 25km plus a l'est, on fait des recherches dans les agences pour monter le volcan Villarrica. Apres des negociations, on fait notre choix et l'apres midi on ...
Am I in the Andes or the Alps?

Later in the afternoon I decided to go and have a stroll around the lake which is absolutely beautiful. There is a beach at one part of the lake, however, the sand is very black and burns your feet. The view of the Andes and the Volcano in the background are absolutely stunning. I could have sat here for hours and wathed the people on the beach.

After a long journey
... downhill on the way back.....my type of hiking! But as it had been raining there was so much mud we had to drop our clothes etc in the bath to get rid of it.
Today...Saturday 2nd March, it could not have been so different. We woke to glorious sunshine...the shorts came out...and we could see the famous Volcano Villaricca..which unfortunatley took the life of 2 young tourists 2 days earlier whilst they were doing the climb.
