Had lunch at Murphy's Pub.... Food and drinks both delicious... Service with a smile especially after I handed the guy his tip which I later realized was around 50%!!! Carlingford

We motored for 10.5 hours against the breeze in a lumpy sea. It was an uncomfortable ride and no one ate much for lunch.

Carlingford (the town) is a 15 minute walk from the marina, but I was nursing a sore knee so I stayed in board.

The Mourne Mountains to the North have some great walking, but we are just here for the night.

... handed. Next stop was Dundalk for the night. This meant we needed to head back the way we came and then past Dublin. Hit Dublin right on rush hour. Managed to get through it, even during a downpour! Three toll roads on our route back up the country. Stayed at a lovely BB in Dundalk. Our host drove us to the local restaurant as we "might be washed away in the rain". Also there is a zero limit for drink-driving! Had a very nice meal and then tried to walk it off on the way ...

... the first Easter fire on this hill.  Later, a monastery and college were built on the sight. The hill is a short climb and we are rewarded with expansive views of the Boyne Valley. We spread our picnic out in the shade of the ruined college. After lunch we clamber and climb over the ruins, the boys, Dad and Chris climbing up and around the ramparts, while Genny and I prefer the comfort of the ground to explore.
