When we got back to the condo, I started this blog and then we got ready to go to the Smith Family Lauau. We needed to be there at 5:00 so Larry, Derek and Erin put on Hawaiian shirts and I put on my new mumu. The luau was close to our condo but it took us a while to get there because of traffic. We then had lunch before returning to catch the bus to Kekaka, almost the furthest point you can travel westwards before the road ends. From that point until Hanalei there is no road and therefore the Na'Pali coast can only be accessed by boat, air or foot. The bus didn't come on time, so thinking we'd ...

... are no snakes on Kauai! On the trail I managed to come upon several Laysan Albatross, a large seabird that is found almost entirely in the Northwestern island of Hawaii. I'm not much of a bird watcher but these birds were pretty big. There was plenty of swell hitting this side of the island so I got to watch some pretty big waves breaking out of the rocks.I hiked for about an hour (with about 20 minutes of that in a rainstorm) and returned to the house to chill for the evening.
