Met Doreen, a Dutch girl, on the ferry out to Phi Phi so we ended up going with her to the "party beach" and stayed in a hostel there. We hadn't been on a night out in a while so we said we may aswell take advantage while we were on Phi Phi. We hadn't realised but it's known as a party island, a bit different from the paradise we were thinking of but it was good fun anyway! Even on Phi Phi there are cheaper local places to eat that you can find tucked amongst it all and every time we passed somewhere that was really busy with young travelers and checked the menu as you do, they were all crazy European prices. So I guess the fact that University places are now for the rich seems to translate down to what is affordable in what way to the Uni gap year students as well.

We found one that we liked the sound of and would take us to bamboo island, monkey island, shark point, maya bay, Viking cave and then watch the sunset.
