Aside from the castle, we made our way to a cathedral that had a tower that you could climb up. Unfortunately, it was closed when we got there, so I just climbed half way up on my own. It's really strange here because the Irish really don't seem to work that much compared to America. Nothing is open until around 9 or 10. Everything closes between 1 and 2 for lunch, and I mean everything. It's like Spain's siesta, but an Irish version that isn't ...

... Reconciliation and integration is happening and there is a future hope of re-uniting Ireland as one.

Betty-Anne learned a little more about her Irish heritage. Apparently, the Shannahan (O’Seanachain – Shanahan) clan backed the wrong king/lord in county Waterford in 1318, and their lands and possessions were taken from them. The clan then scattered throughout the south and west (Waterford to Limerick). In the late ...

... Only 175kms through to Waterford and the traffic was pretty light so we flew through. I slept for half of it but there wasn't much to see because the rain was so bad! We were in Waterford by 11.30 and got to the hotel and they had our room ready which was really good so we could drop off our bags and leave the car and head to lunch. We found a pub called The Three Shippes which served a carvery so I had a small piece of Guinness pie, glazed ham and veges. Scott had curry. ...
