Leaving Madrid to head toward the north coast of Spain we
thought we had encountered the worst of the hills, but no, the van was
confronted again and again with further climbs all of which caused it to
struggle and meant that we were often pulling into the side to let those cars
behind us pass. The scenery was much the
same as the trip into Madrid, very harsh and although I looked everywhere not
once did I see a house that even vaguely resembled ...
... despite the fact that the temperature is perfect. A lot of the shops close down around 3, then by 6 everyone is everywhere again. One minute dead, then the party begins. We went for a walk, bought a 2 scoop ice cream & munched on some miniature breadsticks for dinner. Today, 20/08/13, we slept till 10ish & wandered around to a cafe I found yesterday on my travels. After an initial communication problem we enjoyed a yummo breakfast ...
Finally had a bit of a sleep in today :) squeezed ourselves and our bags into our new tent haha.
Headed into town on the bus finally, went to the info centre to find out about what to see and do, got some free wifi from maccas and planned to meet Sarah, Marcus, Drew and co. at night for some pre bday dinner and drinks for Stacey.

... and giggling and taking silly photos one of which is the very lame selfie where I'm trying to work out how to take it! Being in Biarritz was different to the rest of France. The streets are still complicated as well as the language but it was very beautiful and had a relaxing vibe. Two weeks after we left we heard the women's Roxy pro surf competition was cancelled from no waves! I was so sad to say goodbye to France for now but very excited to check our Spain - our next stop San Sebastian.
