No paradise in this Oasis.

With this being the first accommodation we stayed at in Asia, the standard had yet to be set, yet Oasis put in precisely no effort to welcome or accommodate us. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was unaware that a windowless cell could be optimistically described as being a 'spacious, modern, beach-front bungalow', though with scenic views of Koh Phangan rubbish dump surrounding it, perhaps it was a blessing in disguise to only use the cracks in the wall as our fresh air source. Of course, bed sheets were a luxury we could only dream of, the fan a mere prop on the wall, and we were generously supplied with one whole toilet roll to last 4 of us, the entire 10 days we were staying there. Though in a convenient location, only chose to stay here at your own peril.

... so we found out.
First port of call was to Haad Salad (Haad means beach, which if taken as English hard means concrete beach? haha). Small beach, not much swimming room, but very pretty, nice sand.

Mae Haad is the most popular beach in terms of diving and snorkelling so that was the next target. It’s famous as it has a sand bar that connects to an island when tide is
low. We located the beach through the trees and ...

... felt so surreal to me! We then moved onto Twins dive site. Here I managed to dive even deeper with no ear problems. I returned buzzing for the next morning – even with a 5 am start!

South-West pinnacle was the first stop the following day. Even looking into the water you could see that we were in for a treat! The dive was incredible, schools of fish were everywhere from tiny ones to absolutely massive ones! As we neared the top of our ascent Coty ...

... shade as there was nowhere else to sit and it was BOILING!!! Couldn't wait to get off, we were sweating so much!

On arrival to Ko Phangan (12.45pm) there was a crazy amount of people trying to get taxi's (or rather large tuk tuks). We were put in one taxi then told to get off again. Everyone we asked about getting a taxi to our resort didn't seem to want to help us, as our hotel was apparently too far away. I was getting ****** off by this point as we ...

... t afford all this, but even with our budget we did something very special today (our second day) and took a boat trip all day and stopped at 4 locations around the island for some snorkelling. Having the GoPro as well means that we can post pictures of what we saw underwater. There is a wide variety of fish in this part of the world, so many beautiful colours as well as clams, sea cucumbers, clown fish, and sharks! We spotted several, it gives goose bumps ...
