    A day in Munising

Leisurely morning today. Short walk to Munising falls through very pretty Beech and Maple forest. at one time the track went behind the falls but no longer as the limestone rock is eroding too quickly and the track is not safe.

Went to Miners Falls which are a little taller and also pretty. At the right time of the day, a rainbow would just top off the scene.

Walked 1.6 km (mostly downhill over tree roots) to Miners Beach. Paddled in the fresh water - not ...

Packed our bags and loaded cars to head to the Upper Peninsular. Took 4 cars to Tom's house in Menominee. He lives on the Menominee River with a fabulous view across the water. A quick tour around his property and lunch before we took 3 cars further north to Munising.

We stopped at Wagner Falls for a quick walk to the rather pretty waterfall. Some of the trees are starting to turn colour. Mostly they are just one tree that is different coloured.

Arrived at Otter Creek campground this morning and will just stay overnight. Shortly after we arrived, Luke got loose and ran into dense woods chasing a squirrel. it took 30 minutes of traipsing into the woods to find him and catch him. Certainly gave us a scare. Spent this afternoon on a boat cruise along Pictured Rock National Shoreline. The colorful towering cliffs along the Lake Superior shoreline are amazing. At times it looks like a ...

... Parry Sound...so about an hour left....why is the last little bit of a trip so darn long.... Okay. All settled into Mom/Grandma's in Bracebridge...had a nice roast supper and now sitting back with a nice glass of wine getting caught up on all the wedding planning and family stuff...we've set up a blow up mattress down in the basement room and it looks pretty comfy...at least more comfy than the tent the other night. So, a good night's sleep tonight and maybe a canoe trip ...

    OMG...the ground is hard!!!!

Well, now I know why I stopped sleeping in tents! The ground is hard. It's far from the bathroom and no matter how little water you drink before bed, you will have to go in the middle of the night! And when you do, it's cold and the dew has fallen....what fun! Oh yeah, and most KOA campsites are near the railroad or airport or some other noisy entity...this morning it was a plane taking off in the field right beside us and then some yahoo in a loud car racing down what seemed to ...
