... was the amount of rubbish - cans, plastic bottles, takeaway cartons - that were strewn about the place. Almost as if no-one appreciated the paradise they were living in.

Next came some holiday chalets and bars ... but no people. Apparently the airline had stopped flying due to a dispute about the runway length at the airport, and the infrastructure, though low key, was far too much for the actual number of tourists.

... ve had so far and it only cost us 17 quid each for 5 hours. Totally recommended!!
Back at Panuba we get dinner and tiger beers and watch as the rain pours down one more time....the crashing waves around the jetti look great at night and I'm happy the rain has cooled things down a bit, we return to our room and pack. Whilst L is in the shower a small mouse darts across the room, to a hole in the wall, it's time to move on! We leave on a high from the snorkelling, our best day so far.

... After reading the Lonely Planet (I have an out of date copy!) I was expecting a choice of ferry or speed boat, but it seems that these days there is only a ferry option (35 RM per person one way), and that there is currently only one company operating due to a 'tragedy'.

The 'tragedy' reference on wikivoyage left me curious and I spent a little time browsing the web for more info on this. As a result my research also confirmed some issues we experienced ...
