... We saw relics of St. Anthony ... His vocal chords, part of his tongue, and his teeth and we passed by and go to touch his coffin. The Basilica is absolutely gorgeous. We saw the University of Padua where Galileo was an instructor. It is the second oldest university in Italy. Today we drove to Ravenna and saw a basilica built in 540 AD and a mausoleum built 100 years earlier than that. The churches and other ...

... with excellent flavor. For main dishes Bree chose an open faced, kind of deconstructed ravioli which was delicious and I had a suckling pig tenderloin that was one of the best meat dishes I had eaten in a long time. Where we park, outside our villa, if I can't get the very front space, no trees, right outside our gate, then I have to park somewhere behind. The street is full of chestnut trees and they drop a syrupy, sticky sap. It looks disgusting so we expect our little car will have more washes before our hire is up!

I hope you all enjoy the pictures ... Another wonderful day to add to our memories!

Today is a travel day stopping in Assisi overnight, crossing over the Appian mountains, which divide Italy. We stopped at a WWII war cemetery at Montecassino where many allied troops died trying to pass through a valley to get to Rome with Nazi soldiers firing at them from the mountaintop. Eventually, the allies who suffered great losses decided to bomb a 1,000 year old abbey called Montecassino. The abbey was rebuilt ...
