We spent two nights in Thekkedy (not coming up on the map) which borders the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The drive from Munnar to Thekkedy was not at all pleasant. Our driver doesn't appear to have brought a change of shirt or deodorant so the 3 hour drive (80km) was quite....smelly.

... The temple opens at 4:00 PM and I had about half an hour to rummage through the town. A flower girl on the street sold me garlands for the deities. Two huge Tulasi leaf garlands and a jasmine garland. Exactly at 4:00 I was allowed to enter the temple with few other pilgrims, may be ten all together. The lack of crowd allowed all of us an elaborate Darshan of the deities. There were no guides or touts around.
